Location: Bedford Park / Kaurna Country View Position Description About the Role Student Administration Services (SAS) at Flinders University is a key contributor to the student experience, from admissions through to graduations, SAS contributes to a contemporary and positive student and staff experience. The Manager, Enrolments and Student Reporting oversees the day-to-day operations of student enrolment and reporting services and works with the Senior Manager, Student Administration and Reporting Services to ensure institutional compliance with the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (HESA) as it relates to student records, scholarships, entitlements, course load and completions. This role is embedded within a collaborative and supportive SAS leadership team, providing excellent opportunities for professional growth and development. In this role, you’ll collaborate with key stakeholders throughout the university to manage a high-performing enrolment and student reporting team, dedicated to delivering an exceptional student enrolment experience. You’ll spearhead initiatives that drive improvements in service delivery and elevate the student experience, all while safeguarding the integrity of student data and ensuring the university’s compliance with statutory reporting obligations. Some of the key position responsibilities of the role are: Interpreting legislative requirements by being an active member of internal and external working groups and collaborating with Information & Digital Services (IDS) and Student Administrations Services (SAS) teams to translate legislative requirements into actionable business rules, system configurations and policy updates. Leading initiatives to ensure TCSI reporting error patterns are identified, and remediation activities are undertaken by directing the Student Enrolment and Reporting team, escalating complex issues to the Senior Manager and liaising with impacted business areas to implement preventative measures. Managing the institution’s TCSI reporting processes, ensuring accurate data collection, validation, and timely submission in line with government reporting regulations and organisational standards. Facilitating the Student TCSI working group and Leadership working group to highlight areas requiring strategic focus and to track progress in reducing errors over time. Managing the Student Enrolment Services activities, ensuring student enrolment systems, processes and information meet requirements and support key student enrolment dates. About You As our Manager, Enrolments and Student Reporting, you will have extensive experience in creating and delivering a consistent and integrated customer experience across multiple touch points within a complex environment and the ability to create and lead a continuous improvement culture that proactively identifies, prioritises and implements changes that enhance the customer experience and improve the efficiency of business practices and performance. You bring high level written and oral communication skills, including the ability to liaise with senior management and develop strategic and operational communications for a wide audience including external government agencies, and proven ability to work proactively and collaboratively within and outside own team. To be successful in this role, you will also have: Demonstrated experience leading, motivating and developing a large team of professionals to deliver service excellence and inspiring a working culture of support, recognition and ongoing development. A broad knowledge and demonstrated ability to interpret and accurately advise on student-related higher education policies and procedures and provide sound advice to stakeholders on complex and sensitive matters. Progress towards postgraduate qualifications and relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training. Knowledge of and/or experience working within the Australian higher education sector (desirable). The Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE; www.surrey.ac.uk/gcare) is housed within the School of Engineering at the University of Surrey. It is a multidisciplinary centre with numerous ongoing projects funded by UKRI (EPSRC, NERC, ESRC, Innovate UK), Horizon Europe, the British Council, and industry. The centre is home to a dynamic team of ~20 PhD and postdoctoral researchers, actively conducting cutting-edge research and securing research grants to sustain and expand its activities. GCARE is a leading research centre in the UK and globally, driving innovation and excellence in clean air and climate research. Role & responsibilities The post holder will take responsibility for the development of new research proposals and the operational management and delivery of a range of projects (e.g. SMART-COAT, CDT in Aerosol Science, GP4Streets, GREENIN) and initiatives for maximising the impact and income to the GCARE/school. The post holder will work independently and proactively with the closely with the GCARE team and colleagues within and outside university. Some of the key responsibilities include: Identify opportunities and develop proposals: Proactively identify funding opportunities and develop new research proposals, ensuring successful submission to generate new income. Senior Research Fellow in Smart Lasers and Special Fibres

Fibre lasers are now routinely used in the most advanced production lines for cutting, welding, 3D printing, and marking of a myriad of materials from glass to steel. The ability to precisely control the properties of the output laser beam and to focus it on the workpiece makes fibre lasers indispensable to modern manufacturing. As we enter the Digital Manufacturing/Industry 4.0 era however, new challenges and opportunities for fibre lasers are emerging. The primary objective of the HiPPo project www.hippo-laser.co.uk) is to move beyond the “fixed” fibre lasers that are currently used in manufacturing, and towards “smart” fibre lasers that are automatically reconfigured and optimised in real-time depending on the application. This ambitious objective requires research breakthroughs across the spectrum of fibre laser development, from the development of new fibre core materials, to addressing limits imposed by instabilities, noise and nonlinearities, to high-speed beam and polarisation shaping, and finally using deep learning to solve the complexity challenge associated with coherent beam combination. The role Within HiPPo, your specific task will be to develop a ‘digital fibre laser’, through the neural-network control of a tiled array of fibre lasers in a coherent beam combination architecture, for unlocking novel scaling and beam shaping capabilities in real-time. You will work at the Optoelectronics Research Centre (www.southampton.ac.uk/about/faculties-schools-departments/optoelectronics-research-centre) in a project team of currently nine Research Fellows and a similar number of PhD students focussed on delivering the next generation of fibre lasers. You will have access to our state-of-the-art cleanroom facilities, and be led by a team of world leading experts in the fibre laser and deep learning domains. About you You will have a PhD in an experimental discipline (or equivalent qualifications and experience), ideally with experience in fibre optics and low-noise lasers and optical amplifiers, along with their practical implementation. Applications are also welcome from candidates nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. Whilst this is a laser development role, awareness of deep learning techniques is beneficial as you will be working closely with deep learning specialists.
