Ref.: 533840 Work type: Full-time Department: School of Modern Languages and Cultures (05100) Categories: Teaching Staff Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in Portuguese (Global and Area Studies) in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (Ref.: 533840), to commence on July 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and availability of funding. Applicants should possess a relevant Ph.D. degree and demonstrate expertise in teaching Portuguese to non-native speakers, along with the ability to deliver research-based courses on Lusophone cultures and societies. Applicants must be native or near-native speakers of Portuguese with excellent English proficiency. They should be familiar with contemporary trends in Portuguese-language pedagogy and assessment, including the use of AI tools for teaching and learning. The appointee will be responsible for teaching courses at various levels, developing new curricula, and designing assessment materials. While the primary duties involve teaching and administration, research activities are also encouraged. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary. About The Role We are seeking a proactive and creative Social Media and Content Officer to support our social media strategy and content creation. You will support the Social Media Manager to manage the University's main social media channels, including Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Bluesky, YouTube and X. You’ll be instrumental in developing our research presence on TikTok and YouTube through creative, innovative and responsible content. Working alongside the Social Media Manager, you will help develop and implement strategic social media campaigns to promote our research and internal initiatives. Your objective will be to ensure these campaigns support the University's objectives and vision while effectively engaging and building a strong connection with our online community. A key part of your role will be to stay on top of the latest trends, creating reactive content that keeps our channels fresh, relevant and engaging. About You To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria Experience of personally creating engaging, multimedia content for digital channels including video, photography and infographics. CFE brings together a broad range of expertise to deliver basic and applied research to support the sustainable management of freshwater ecosystems.
