This includes developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, programs and initiatives that ensure a safe, healthy and compliant environment for our staff, students and visitors. You will lead, mentor and develop a team of health and safety professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and consistent ways of working across a dispersed team. In addition, you will build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and provide strategic, pragmatic and risk-based advice on complex health and safety matters. About you Demonstrated experience and success leading a team of HSW practitioners. Proven ability to uplift and improve safety culture and outcomes, and experience in leading the design and implementation of safety management systems and programs in a complex environment. Expertise in developing and implementing HSW policies, standards and reporting, and strong knowledge of relevant legislation, codes and standards (including ISO 45001). Proven experience providing strategic, credible and risk-based advice to senior leaders, including on complex incident and risk matters. Highly developed interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills, and ability to maintain effective stakeholder relationships. Postgraduate qualifications in WHS, risk management or a related field would be highly regarded. This role is ideal for an experienced near‑coastal seafarer who enjoys mentoring others and is ready to transition ashore into education. As a practice‑based facilitator of learning, you will support students to develop the skills, confidence and professionalism needed to succeed in the maritime industry. The role includes curriculum and assessment development, marking and moderation, and contributing to continuous improvement in teaching delivery.
