Job Description FACULTY OF SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS The Department invites applications for a tenure-track faculty vacancy at the Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor rank specialising in applied/computational mathematics and statistics, especially with numerical partial differential equations and scientific computing, or an area which complements the Department’s research profile. Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (25260404) Responsibilities: The appointees will perform high-impact research, teach and supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and contribute to professional and institutional services. Collaboration with other faculty members in research and teaching is also expected. Requirements: Applicants should possess a relevant PhD degree with solid track record in research. Teaching experience is preferred. They are expected to be energetic and motivated and have strong commitment in teaching. They will also actively participate in current research and teaching programmes of the Department and be able to support its independent research with external research grants. Those with substantial teaching experience and a good record of scholarly achievements will be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor. Proven experience in teaching at the higher education level. A strong alignment between research expertise and the strategic focus areas of CIE and HeXie Academy. Additional Essential Requirements for Senior Associate Professor / Full Professor applicants: An outstanding record of excellence in teaching and curriculum development. A substantial and sustained record of high-quality academic publications. Proven success in securing and managing significant external research grants. A successful track record of supervising PhD students to completion. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Experience in interdisciplinary curriculum design and new programme development, particularly at the postgraduate level. A demonstrated interest or experience in applying AI to industrial contexts (e.g., biopharma, semiconductors, advanced materials) or ecosystem management. Active engagement with the professional and industrial community. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a collegial, interdisciplinary academic environment. Familiarity with the higher education landscape in China and/or a keen interest in contributing to XJTLU's "3.0" educational mission.
