The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) IIT (ISM)), Dhanbad was established in 1926 to cater to the manpower needs of the coal and mineral industries. It was established by the British Indian Government to emulate the Royal School of Mines in London, with the aim of passing on British mining education. In recognition of its vital role in the service of mineral exploration and the mining sector, IIT (ISM) was granted autonomy in 1967 by the government of India. Today, IIT(ISM) includes 18 academic departments which cover engineering, applied sciences, humanities, and social sciences and management. To reflect the changes in academic profile of the university, in 2016 it was given status as an Indian Institute of Technology. Its name was changed from ISM Dhanbad into IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. The campus houses the Geological Museum, the Seismic Observatory, a data Processing Laboratory, the Long Wall Mine Gallery and the Remote Sensing Laboratory. There are also residential facilities for all faculty staff and students, with seven hostels for boys and three for girls. IIT (ISM) is surrounded by mining offices such as the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research, the headquarters of DGMS, and the headquarters of Bharat Coking Coal Limited. Students can choose to do an extracurricular activity with the National Cadet Corps, the National Service Scheme, the National Sports Organisation, or yoga. IIT (ISM) has many notable scientists in its alumni, such as the earth scientists and seismologist, Harsh Gupta, who is known for his work on estimation of reservoir-induced earthquakes, and geoscientist Rabi Narayan Bastia, known for his contributions to the hydrocarbon explorations at Krishna Godovari Basin.

Description The Materials NMR Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to appoint a Post-Doctoral Associate to conduct research in solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, materials synthesis, computational chemistry, and advanced structural characterization of functional materials. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing projects focused on understanding structure–property relationships in molecular solids, porous materials, pharmaceuticals, organic materials, and energy-related materials. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline, within less than 5 years post receiving their PhD. The candidate should have a strong research background in at least one of the following areas: solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, materials synthesis, computational chemistry, NMR crystallography, or advanced structural characterization of materials. The candidate is expected to have demonstrated experience in conducting independent research, designing experiments, analyzing scientific data, and preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. The candidate should be capable of contributing to multidisciplinary research projects involving experimental spectroscopy, materials characterization, and computational modeling. Prior experience with solid-state NMR spectroscopy, including magic-angle spinning experiments, multinuclear NMR, quadrupolar nuclei, or two-dimensional NMR methods, is highly desirable. Experience with computational methods such as density functional theory calculations, geometry optimization, and prediction of NMR parameters will be considered an advantage. The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational ability, and the capacity to work effectively in a collaborative academic research environment. Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate students, assisting with research proposals, and supporting laboratory safety and research compliance activities is preferred. The candidate must be able to follow institutional research guidelines, maintain accurate research records, comply with laboratory safety policies, and uphold responsible conduct of research standards. Description New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a Junior Research Scientist to work on a series of research projects focused on the links between institutions, firms, labor, and migration in developing countries. Candidates can expect to be involved in all aspects of the research project, with the primary goal of publication. Terms of employment include a competitive salary and benefits. The junior researcher will work closely with faculty to support existing projects as well as develop new projects using both randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and administrative data. Working directly under the supervision of Professors Morgan Hardy and Veda Narasimhan, the position offers an exceptional opportunity to build strong academic research skills—including the development of new research projects, papers, and publications—to facilitate highly competitive applications to PhD programs. The successful candidate will be given a high degree of responsibility and oversight for the research projects. Responsibilities include the management of primary data collection in the field, data cleaning, analysis, and the management of data replication packages for publication. Additionally, the candidate will conduct literature reviews, assist with grant writing and proposals, draft exhibits, manuscripts, and papers, prepare conference and seminar presentations, and support all other aspects of the publication and revision process. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree (BA) or a Masters in Economics or a related discipline, though additional majors that broaden the candidate's overall skill scope are preferred. Required experience includes prior experience working directly on academic papers and projects, alongside a high degree of proficiency in econometric methods and statistical analysis tools, such as Stata or equivalent statistical software. We are particularly interested in candidates who possess a demonstrated interest in topics related to political economy, firms, labor, and migration.
