The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) IIT (ISM)), Dhanbad was established in 1926 to cater to the manpower needs of the coal and mineral industries. It was established by the British Indian Government to emulate the Royal School of Mines in London, with the aim of passing on British mining education. In recognition of its vital role in the service of mineral exploration and the mining sector, IIT (ISM) was granted autonomy in 1967 by the government of India. Today, IIT(ISM) includes 18 academic departments which cover engineering, applied sciences, humanities, and social sciences and management. To reflect the changes in academic profile of the university, in 2016 it was given status as an Indian Institute of Technology. Its name was changed from ISM Dhanbad into IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. The campus houses the Geological Museum, the Seismic Observatory, a data Processing Laboratory, the Long Wall Mine Gallery and the Remote Sensing Laboratory. There are also residential facilities for all faculty staff and students, with seven hostels for boys and three for girls. IIT (ISM) is surrounded by mining offices such as the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research, the headquarters of DGMS, and the headquarters of Bharat Coking Coal Limited. Students can choose to do an extracurricular activity with the National Cadet Corps, the National Service Scheme, the National Sports Organisation, or yoga. IIT (ISM) has many notable scientists in its alumni, such as the earth scientists and seismologist, Harsh Gupta, who is known for his work on estimation of reservoir-induced earthquakes, and geoscientist Rabi Narayan Bastia, known for his contributions to the hydrocarbon explorations at Krishna Godovari Basin.

The newly established Finnish Centre of Excellence in Immune – Endothelial Interfaces (IMMENs) is composed of research groups at the University of Helsinki (director Dr. Taija Mäkinen and Dr. Kari Vaahtomeri) and Åbo Akademi University in Turku (Dr. Cecilia Sahlgren and Dr. Guillaume Jacquemet). Here, the IMMENs affiliated research group of Dr. Vaahtomeri, at the University of Helsinki, invites applications for a fixed-term position of  POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER Scientific context IMMENs investigates the role of lymphatic vessel endothelium in controlling immune responses. Current evidence shows that much of immune regulation occurs locally at the site of inflammation. Recent studies have revealed important crosstalk between lymphatic endothelium and immune cells, resulting in phenotypic changes that control immune cell trafficking, fate and function. IMMENs will develop novel experimental approaches to uncover the mechanisms and therapeutic potential of lymphatic endothelial immunomodulation in homeostasis, inflammation and tumorigenesis using in vivo genetic mouse models, advanced live and intravital imaging, engineered microchip models, primary cell co-culture systems and novel microscopy and analysis methods. In this context, Vaahtomeri laboratory addresses fundamental cell and vascular biology mechanisms of cell migration/interactions Who are we looking for We are looking for candidates with a strong background in life sciences (for example, cell biology, vascular biology, immunology biochemistry, mouse models, or image analysis). The candidate should be highly motivated to investigate key open questions in the fields of: Cell Biology Vascular biology Immunology At the postdoctoral level, the candidate should have a PhD degree in appropriate biological or medical subject and a demonstrated strong track record of peer-reviewed publications. Previous experience in cell biology, vascular biology, mouse models, immunology or high-end imaging approaches is considered an advantage. The degree requirement must be met by the beginning of the employment. Candidates should be able to demonstrate abstract thinking as well as the potential to develop and pursue scientific projects in the fields relevant for this call. Furthermore, the candidate should have excellent communication skills in English and the ability to work in an international environment.  What we offer The position is for a fixed-term (2 years) and includes a six-month trial period and a possibility for extension upon success in postdoctoral research. You will possess: A Masters or PhD qualification in a relevant field, or equivalent accreditation and standing, or extensive (15+ years) clinical dietetics experience across acute, ambulatory and/or private practice settings; Recognition as an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) or Advanced APD with Dietitians Australia; Demonstrated excellence in clinical teaching or supervision, including student progression and assessment, across simulated, telehealth, internal, and external placement environments, Experience in professional placement quality improvement processes and/or governance Proven leadership in the coordination, development, or improvement of clinical education programs, professional placement systems or student-led clinic models; Strong relationships with professional bodies, industry, and community partners, with evidence of partnership development and collaboration; Highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills that contribute to a positive, collegial, and high-performing academic environment; and A commitment to ongoing professional development in clinical education, scholarship, and higher education practice. Desirable Postgraduate qualification in education or higher education, or Senior Fellowship of Advance HE; Advanced APD status; Experience in private practice, primary care or multidisciplinary clinical service management and delivery; Evidence of recognition for excellence in clinical education, teaching, or scholarship.
