The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) IIT (ISM)), Dhanbad was established in 1926 to cater to the manpower needs of the coal and mineral industries. It was established by the British Indian Government to emulate the Royal School of Mines in London, with the aim of passing on British mining education. In recognition of its vital role in the service of mineral exploration and the mining sector, IIT (ISM) was granted autonomy in 1967 by the government of India. Today, IIT(ISM) includes 18 academic departments which cover engineering, applied sciences, humanities, and social sciences and management. To reflect the changes in academic profile of the university, in 2016 it was given status as an Indian Institute of Technology. Its name was changed from ISM Dhanbad into IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. The campus houses the Geological Museum, the Seismic Observatory, a data Processing Laboratory, the Long Wall Mine Gallery and the Remote Sensing Laboratory. There are also residential facilities for all faculty staff and students, with seven hostels for boys and three for girls. IIT (ISM) is surrounded by mining offices such as the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research, the headquarters of DGMS, and the headquarters of Bharat Coking Coal Limited. Students can choose to do an extracurricular activity with the National Cadet Corps, the National Service Scheme, the National Sports Organisation, or yoga. IIT (ISM) has many notable scientists in its alumni, such as the earth scientists and seismologist, Harsh Gupta, who is known for his work on estimation of reservoir-induced earthquakes, and geoscientist Rabi Narayan Bastia, known for his contributions to the hydrocarbon explorations at Krishna Godovari Basin.

Description The Center for Interdisciplinary Data Science and AI (CIDSAI) at NYU Abu Dhabi is a cross‑disciplinary hub where mathematicians, computer scientists, engineers, and social scientists join forces to push the boundaries of data‑driven discovery. Our mission is two‑fold: to advance fundamental theory in probability and machine learning, and to translate those breakthroughs into high‑impact tools that serve the UAE, the wider Arab world, and global society. We are seeking a Junior Research Scientist to join the team to work under the theme of Computational & Interactive Health under the supervision of Dr. Farah Shamout & Dr. Hanan Salam and in close collaboration with Prof. Nizar Habash. The researcher is expected to have strong machine learning & AI skills and exemplary passion and motivation to pursue multidisciplinary research at the intersection of computing and healthcare. The project has three main objectives: (a) developing robust computational methods for decision-making in health based on clinical use cases of interest, (b) building a tailored health-focused Arabic knowledge interactive language model through the development of benchmark datasets, evaluation frameworks, and specialized LLMs and AI agents, and finally (c) designing specialized interactive multimodal multi-lingual natural interfaces. Qualifications: A master's degree in less than 5 years of research experince in the relevant field or a bachelors degree with any level of experince. Support the research supervisors and team in developing and implementing the research agenda. Conduct high-quality and innovative research primarily focused on Computational & Interactive Health. Generate new high-impact ideas based on gaps and limitations of the state-of-the-art (SOTA). Publish research findings in high-impact journals and conferences. Communicate and present research findings at local and international academic gatherings. Create, maintain, and document high-quality research code for reproducibility. Maintain good practice in managing and accessing sensitive medical datasets. Collaborate with other scientists within the NYU Global Network and in Abu Dhabi. Description The Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi is inviting applications for Associate Research Scientist positions in the broad research areas of mathematical analysis and partial differential equations (PDEs). While all applicants with a background in the analysis of PDEs will be considered, candidates with prior experience in theoretical physics, fluid mechanics, kinetic theory, dispersive equations or harmonic analysis will be given special attention. Within the Science, Engineering and Technology Group of KU Leuven, the Department of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a professorship in Mechanical Engineering. We are seeking internationally oriented candidates with an excellent research track record and strong teaching competence in numerical modelling, plasma physics, nuclear fusion, and nuclear technology. We further expect teaching competences in underlying scientific disciplines such as fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics. Junior profiles will be appointed as tenure track assistant professor, with an evaluation after 5 years. Senior candidates may be appointed at the level of associate professor, professor, or full professor, depending on their qualifications and academic experience. As a member of the senior academic staff of the Science, Engineering & Technology Group of KU Leuven's Arenberg Campus, you will be affiliated with both the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering Science. Unit website Research The candidate aims to develop and apply new insights into nuclear fusion technology with a focus on advancing 2D and 3D simulation methodologies for plasma transport, heat transfer and particle exhaust in the reactor, potentially including interactions with the broader system, and other relevant mechanisms for future fusion power plants. Combining these advanced simulation techniques with design optimisation, control, data-assimilation, uncertainty quantification, and multi-fidelity approaches is encouraged. The candidate is expected to collaborate with international fusion initiatives, considering various concepts such as tokamaks, stellarators, and inertial confinement. In addition, the candidate takes a leading role in further developing the SOLPS-ITER community code (formerly B2/EIRENE), for which KU Leuven is a core developer. The candidate will be based in Leuven at campus Arenberg in the current fusion team that has strong existing ties and collaborations with major international fusion initiatives. The candidate is expected to pursue excellence, build national and international collaborations and publish at the highest scientific level in your field. By securing competitive funding for fundamental and/or applied research, the candidate should be able to establish a research group in close collaboration with stakeholders in the wider region and supervise PhD candidates at an international level. Teaching The candidate is expected to take on a teaching role in programmes such as BSc in Engineering Science, MSc in Mechanical Engineering, MSc in Engineering: Energy, or the Belgian Nuclear higher Education Network. The candidate should be able to teach courses in disciplines such as fluid dynamics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and computational fluid dynamics, in addition to more advanced topics. The candidate will build a research team (PhD researchers, postdoctoral fellows) that can support teaching within these disciplines. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to conduct cutting-edge research that enables the definition and supervision of related BSc/MSc student projects and research topics in energy or nuclear engineering.
