About IMT Mines Alès

IMT Mines Alès was established as a mining institution in 1843 by King Louis Phillipe in Alès, France and has since become an internationally-recognised engineering school offering a multitude of courses.

Courses are available in civil engineering, information engineering, management of risks and environment, mining and system and production engineering among others.

The university belongs to the prestigious École des Mines Group of engineering schools, which are known for their excellent standard of education in engineering, science and management. They have had involvement in many world-renowned projects such as the Eiffel Tower and the Channel Tunnel and many space and aeronautic technologies.

IMT Mines Alès focuses on training its students for employment, and has over 1,600 company partnerships who work with students on projects. This helps students gain valuable workplace skills and build relationships with potential future employers.

The students' residence is located approximately 2 km from the main campus. The residence offers individual rooms, double rooms or studios, furnished and equipped.

Alès is a small town situated between the Cèvennes National Park mountains and the Mediterranean sea, making it the perfect place for those who love the outdoors. It is an hours drive from both the coastline and the nearest ski resort, so students have many different landscapes to keep them busy in their free time.

The area has great transport links, allowing students ease of travel to nearby areas such as Montpelier, Nimes and Avignon. Students also have access to several sports clubs, such as rugby and football, as well as student clubs like photography and astronomy.
