Program Assistant, Academics and Administration The Program Assistant (Academics and Administration), under the supervision of the Associate Director, provides administrative support for the Academic Administration of NYUS. The primary responsibility of the position is to provide broad support as part of a team whose mission is to ensure the effective delivery of a first-rate study abroad experience. The Assistant also ensures programmatic support consistent with the high standards that have established NYU as a global leader in international higher education. This is a full-time position based in Sydney, Australia. Approximate time allocations for each duty category are indicated below but may be adjusted as necessary. Operations and Communications (30%) ● Maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality ● Assist in updating faculty handbooks, and academic related webpages ● Assist with alumni relations related to NYUS course guest lectures ● Search for and assist with possible academic-related grant applications ● Prepare weekly faculty newsletter ● Attend Intercultural Learning Committee meetings and staff/faculty meetings ● Participate in special projects and after hours/weekend event support as needed Academics (70%) ● Create course schedule, manage classrooms and instructional supplies, organize regular meetings, circulate information, develop and enforce strategies related to academic procedures, and communicate academic announcements, revisions, and updates to all lecturers and students. ● Assist with new instructor onboarding and training in collaboration with Global Academics, manage course materials, ensure submission of grades, respond to academic engagement and student progress concerns, and assist instructors with NYU’s learning management system to support timely updates and communications to students. ● Assist lecturers with place-based learning opportunities such as field trips and guest speakers. ● Monitor USYD course availability each semester. ● Exercise judgement within defined guidelines and practices to provide general guidance and support to students to ensure appropriate academic advising, partnering with the Associate Director and appropriate authorities on escalated matters. ● Supervise exams and implement accommodations for students who have registered with NYU Moses Center for Student Accessibility. ● Support major NYU Sydney programs including, but not limited to, NYU local exchange info sessions and advertising, student orientation, short term programs, signature events, professional development, collaboration with the University of Sydney and community engagement opportunities. ● Other duties as assigned. About the role The Senior Programme Officer works as part of a team to ensure consistent support and delivery of the Strand Group and SfG’ s residential, online and blended taught provision, providing high quality logistical administrative support.
