Your workplace: The History Study Programme Management at the Faculty of History and Cultural Studies covers five institutes and offers two bachelor's and six master's programmes. It has approximately 5,000 students. As a senior lecturer, you will be involved in teaching on the History study programme. The full-time position involves an average of 14 hours of academic teaching per week. If your performance is evaluated positively at the end of the one-year fixed-term contract, the position will be converted to a permanent position by mutual agreement. Your future tasks: You will teach 14 SWS per semester, with a focus on the bachelor's level of the BA History and BEd History and Political Education programmes. The teaching portfolio also includes courses in the introductory and orientation phase (StEOP). If required, you may also be assigned courses at the master's level. You will be expected to keep up to date with the latest developments in the field, undertake further training in teaching methods and carry out research tasks during the lecture-free period. In addition, you will be required to perform administrative tasks, particularly in the area of teaching administration. You must be willing to contribute to the further development of teaching in the field of history, for example through the use of AI or the implementation of new curricula. Depending on requirements, the teaching duties will focus on the following areas: Austrian history in a European and global context; Sources and methods of historical studies Historical research and writing Conducting courses with integrated examinations (guided readings, proseminars, seminars) What we expect: Excellent knowledge of German Academic qualification in the form of a completed doctorate in the field of Austrian history of the late Middle Ages or early modern period. Ability to explain fundamental political, social and economic processes of change. Relevant academic publications, broad teaching experience in tertiary education. About us: Procurement Strategy & Services is part of the Finance, Procurement, Strategy & Analytics Directorate and supports the university deliver best value from its spending, ensure effective management and payment of suppliers, and to promote sustainable contracting practices. About the role: Reporting to the Associate Director of Corporate Services Procurement, you will focus on supporting the Corporate Services category, which includes consultancy, HR-related services, marketing, library services, student support, H&S related services and graduation services. You will support colleagues across the university on request for quotations and tendering activity through our e-tendering system (In-Tend), deal promptly with communications, analyse supplier spend data, support the requisition process on the university’s finance system (Business World – Unit 4), manage new supplier requests and maintain records within the category. Lead the development, optimisation, and implementation of molecular synthetic biology technologies for programmable plant trait engineering. Full-time appointment on a fixed term basis until June 2028. Base salary range: Level A, $83,499 – $112,371 p.a. plus 17% superannuation. About the area The Plant Synbio Innovation Centre (PSIC) is based within the School of Molecular Sciences at UWA. As the WA node of Plant SynBio Australia under Bioplatforms Australia and the NCRIS program, PSIC will serve as a hub for cutting-edge research capabilities in plant synthetic biology, and agricultural biotechnology. The facility houses state-of-the-art molecular biology infrastructure and operates in collaboration with national PSBA nodes at ANU, La Trobe University, and Adelaide University. As the WA node, the PSIC is responsible for discovering, developing, and delivering plant synthetic biology componentry, technologies, datasets, and high throughput testing capabilities. PSIC’s activities span high-resolution plant cell atlas generation, regulatory network and genomic ‘parts’ discovery, development of high-throughput upstream screening pipelines to rapidly assess Synbio constructs and components, and implementation of molecular tools for both fundamental research and applied crop-engineering programs. This position will be based in the Bayliss Building on UWA’s Crawley campus, working closely with research, industry, and government partners to develop and deliver cutting-edge plant synbio technologies and services. About the opportunity Lead the development, testing, and application of advanced molecular synthetic biology tools for plant genome, gene activity, and cell engineering. Design, test, and validate programmable gene circuits, RNA/DNA editing systems, regulatory components, and transgene insertion technologies in transient and stable plant systems. Collaborate on research-service projects across academia and industry, ensuring reproducible workflows, scalable methods, and high-quality datasets for the PSBA network. About you PhD in plant molecular biology, synthetic biology, genome engineering, biotechnology, or a closely related field. Demonstrated expertise in molecular cloning, construct design, and genetic engineering techniques relevant to plants. Experience developing or applying programmable regulators, gene-editing tools (e.g., CRISPR, base/prime editors), synthetic gene circuits, or other molecular synbio technologies. Ability to design, optimise and troubleshoot molecular workflows, including promoter/element selection, construct assembly, and functional validation. Demonstrated experience analysing molecular or functional genomics data relevant to technology validation.
