Ibaraki Christian University has offered four-year courses since 1967, but can trace its ancestry back 20 years further to the foundation of Taga Kindergarten in 1947. At the same time it also purchased the Sion campus, which it retains to this day, by the Ibaraki Christian College which are both initiatives of the American Churches of Christ. It is based in Hitachi City in the Ibaraki prefecture.

In 1967 its initial four-year degree offering was in Biblical studies and English language and literature. Subsequent developments included the addition of Japanese literature in 1974, elementary education in 1987, life sciences in 2001, nursing in 2004 and business administration in 2011.

In 2018 it enrolled 2,570 students, of whom three-quarters were women. Female students made up about 90 per cent of the students in nursing and in food sciences, more than four in five in education and two-thirds or above in psychology and welfare, cultural exchanges and contemporary English. Only in business education were men a (marginal) majority.

Students are expected to "strive to understand fairness in the Christian spirit and to try to be fair in the future life", with an emphasis on "neighbour love" given practical expression by local community volunteer projects organised through the Regional Exchange Centre.

There is also a strong emphasis on globalisation and English education seen in a tradition of exchange programmes. Links dating back to 1974 with Oklahoma Christian University are claimed as "probably the oldest continual mutual exchange between Japanese and US universities". Since 2015 the two have offered "2plus2" dual degree programmes. These involve studying for two years at Ibaraki Christian University followed by two in Oklahoma. The university also has a similar agreement with a number of Korean institutions, with students spending the first and last years at Ibaraki Christian University with two years in Korea in between.

The position is open to all areas of specialization within value theory very broadly construed (to include ethics, political philosophy, social philosophy, aesthetics, and other cognate areas). Key Responsibilities Work with EETC team members and companies on energy assessment projects in industrial systems Assist and/or co-develop training in energy efficiency in industrial systems to adult learners and students Mentor students in energy assessment projects to enhance their technical problem-solving skills. The learning activities may be classroom training, laboratory classes, projects. Development of learning activities / materials and assessment of students may form part of the responsibilities. Support research and industrial project work undertaken by the university, where opportunity arises. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure smooth execution of the energy audits. For those hired at senior levels, management responsibilities may be included. Manage and administer training programmes at the Centre.  Job Requirements Have hands-on experience in energy assessments and energy efficiency projects in some of the following areas: Industrial systems such as: Chilled Water System, Cooling and Refrigeration System, Mechanical Ventilation System, Heating system, Process Separation, Process Heat Integration, Process Compressor System, Steam and Condensate System, Compressed Air System, Motor Driven System, Power Distribution System and Electric Motors, Lighting System, Renewable Energy System, Process Specific system etc. Have a Degree in Engineering or equivalent. Have at least 5 years of project work experience in energy efficiency. Certified Energy Efficiency Opportunity Assessor or Singapore Certified Energy Manager will be advantageous. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop/produce/investigate a web-based Ship Simulation and Optimisation Software Platform. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: i. Develop naval architecure calculation and ship design tools based on analytical or empirical methods, i.e., stability calculation, resistance and propulsion estimation, weight estimation, etc. ii. Develop a practical parametric model framework for ship and system design. iii. Carry out naval architecture calculations, i.e., stability, resistance, hydrodynamic analysis, etc. iv. Carry out ship hydrodynamic and CFD simulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements Have relevant competence in the areas of naval architecture and ship hydrodynamics. Have a degree in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering / Ocean Engineering / Other Relevant Engineering Degree. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous. Experience in any programming language will be advantageous. Experience in marine hydrodynamics will be advantageous.
