Hoshi University is a single-subject pharmaceutical university in Tokyo that originated in the staff education division of Hoshi Pharmaceutical Company in 1922. It became co-educational in 1946 and was given university status in 1950.

It consists of 1,800 students across the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical sciences. The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences includes a six-year pharmaceutical course, which aims to train pharmacists, and a four-year Drug Discovery Science Course, which aims to train drug researchers.

The educational policy of the university translates to "Our university is a cradle in which talents who will serve the world are fostered".

As well as developing pharmacists and drug discovery researchers, it is also a research institute that develops pharmaceutics.

Students must belong to one of the university’s specialised laboratories, of which there are over 20. These laboratories include specialities such as synthetic medicinal chemistry, pharmacognosy, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology and therapeutics, physiology and morphology and education.

The Advanced Life Science Research Center focuses on palliative medicine and neuroscience. It has two institutes: the L-Star aims to explore novel pharmaceutics by integrating knowledge into leading scientific fields. GRIL aims to match the university’s research with the needs of society. The Center also aims to connect with corporations, universities and researchers internationally and to publicise new research, drugs and health foods produced by Hoshi University.

Alumni of the university have gone on to work at companies such as Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Novartis and AstraZeneca.

Job Purpose At SIT's Professional Officers Division, we bring our rich industry experience and technical skills into our work, creating a better physical environment where learning and innovation take place. We work with teaching programmes and innovation projects to improve the skills of our students and to strengthen & energise our industry and the wider community. A Professional Officer has a combination of job responsibilities relating to the following: participate in and manage innovation projects, manage digital technology related resources, and mentor & facilitate student learning. The Centre for Digital Enablement (CoDE) drives the initiatives to elevate digital competencies for academic staff and students within SIT. It works with various stakeholders, both internal and external, in upskilling digital literacy across the organization through literacy programmes and digital innovation projects in relation to the Digital Learning Spaces (DLS). For this role, you will spearhead the various cybersecurity enablement programmes in SIT, manage the cybersecurity related resources and initiatives within CoDE, and lead cybersecurity projects within SIT and with industry partners to support teaching and learning objectives. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering digital literacy courses to undergraduate students and academic staff as part of the institutional drive to ensure our graduates are ready for a highly digitally-enabled workforce. Additionally, you’ll be required to mentor and facilitate student learning by participating in and managing student projects. Key Responsibilities Cybersecurity Enablement Programmes Develop and own the Cybersecurity Competency Roadmap, providing guidance for SIT undergraduate students and academic staff in developing their cybersecurity competencies. Lead and oversee a range of cybersecurity enablement programmes to facilitate the growth of information security skills among SIT undergraduate students and academic staff. Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in cybersecurity, ensuring the continued relevancy and currency of the enablement programmes and Cybersecurity Competency Roadmap. Cybersecurity Projects Drive the adoption of sound information security practices across all CoDE projects. Collaborate with industry partners, faculty, Professional Officers and other stakeholders to conduct applied research in cybersecurity related technologies. Teaching & Student Mentorship Develop and deliver digital skills literacy related courses or workshops to undergraduate students and staff. This includes development of learning contents and activities, providing consultations on digital skills/technology related queries, and assessment and grading of students’ work. Mentor and facilitate student learning by participating in and managing student projects. Any other matters as directed by Director/Deputy Director of CoDE. Job Requirements A good degree in Computer Science or a related field. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. 10+ years of working experience, including at least 5 in cybersecurity related fields. Proven experience in developing and deploying secure enterprise software solutions. Good programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, etc. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Possess strong supervisory and project management skills. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure that the project can meet the milestones adhering to the stipulated timeline. Description The Bias, Ethics, and Privacy Cluster within the Center for Interdisciplinary Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CIDSAI) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Postdoctoral Associate under the supervision of Professor Hanan Salam to work on the development of frameworks, tools, and theoretical foundations for bias detection and mitigation in AI & data science, with a particular focus on applications relevant to the Arab world. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary research team working at the intersection of machine learning, algorithmic fairness, human-computer interaction, and responsible AI. The project aims to investigate how bias emerges in data pipelines and AI systems, understand the design and development decisions that propagate social biases, and develop theoretical and algorithmic approaches to mitigate them. Key responsibilities include developing bias detection tools, building fairness-aware algorithms, and contributing to practical guidelines and theoretical frameworks that address systemic bias in data-driven systems. This position offers the opportunity to work in a vibrant research environment with faculty and collaborators across computer science, data science, design, and ethics, and to contribute to high-impact research that shapes the development of equitable and inclusive AI technologies in the Arab region.
