Creatively combining the disciplines of Architecture, Urbanism and Design, we explore how cities, spaces, buildings, technologies, and services can better meet the needs of people and society. Our educators and researchers are experimental, imaginative, and critical, innovating at the boundaries of their disciplines and creating exciting and engaging learning experiences for our students - the global citizens of tomorrow. The School has long valued creative practice and making within its curriculum in a way that enriches architecture and design practice and techniques. Students in many of our degrees have drawing, photography, and ceramics as available subjects. The School's gallery, Tin Sheds, has an annual program featuring creative work that sits at the intersection between art and architecture practice. We seek to appoint a Lecturer - Art in Architecture and Design Practice (Education Focused), whose work sits at the intersection of contemporary architecture and artistic practice and who has an outstanding record of practice in this area. This role will involve teaching and research that engages in innovative, contemporary modes of making, with a willingness to explore the interface between digital and analogue forms of creative practice. The role involves academic leadership within art and architecture and design education, as well as undertaking research and service within the school and university. Your key responsibilities will be to: work as a unit coordinator, in collaboration with program directors and other unit coordinators, to deliver agreed learning outcomes provide excellent teaching in core and elective units of study as a lecturer, tutor and studio teacher develop and update new curriculum material if requested work collaboratively with school strategies to develop the educational skills of tutors and studio teachers as well as ensuring the superior quality of their teaching contribute to the evaluation of student experience and develop strategies to improve education delivery based on feedback and reflection contribute to teaching and learning innovations including work-integrated learning undertake research appropriate to the role. About you experience in teaching in art and architecture studios demonstrated ability in undergraduate teaching with experience as a tutor / studio art and architecture teacher, with experience teaching large cohorts an advantage extensive experience as lead tutor / senior studio teacher or equivalent ability to work across different teaching teams demonstrated ability to quality assure your own teaching materials delivery and those of others knowledge of teaching technologies and different ways of supporting student learning, progression and wellbeing a collegial approach and willingness to contribute to academic governance, engagement, and administration tertiary qualifications appropriate to the field and a minimum of 5 years industry experience as a tutor/studio teacher. Senior Trials Manager

An exciting opportunity for someone with previous clinical trials experience to join the Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU), within the University of Southampton, in an important role as Senior Trials Manager (STM) within the Early Diagnosis and Translational Group.  SCTU is a leading UK academic CTU located within the state-of-the-art Centre for Cancer Immunology building at Southampton General Hospital. Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU) | University of Southampton SCTU is a UKCRC registered CTU and is core-funded by Cancer Research UK (CRUK) together with funding from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) via the Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and Research Support Service (RSS).  SCTU has expertise in the design, conduct and publication of clinical trials and other well-designed studies from first-in-human phase I to practice changing phase III trials to large early diagnosis observational studies with rich translational data. Managing a growing portfolio (75% cancer, 25% non-cancer) that covers the complete spectrum of clinical practice, from primary care through to tertiary referral medicine, including pan-cancer experimental therapeutics, surgery, radiotherapy and early diagnosis. Undertaking multi-centre early and late phase clinical trials, we work nationally and internationally to create the evidence for patient benefit that will directly influence routine clinical practice in the NHS and overseas.  As part of the CRUK and NIHR infrastructure we have close working relationships with our partners, including the Southampton Experimental Cancer Research Centre, NIHR BRC & RSS, University Hospital Southampton, the Centre for Cancer Immunology discovery community and CRUK Centres and Institutes across the UK, with an increasing number of international collaborations.  The Senior Trials Manager will lead the relevant portfolio team to ensure effective delivery of the overall strategy and delivery priorities for SCTU. This will include resource management, oversight of financial management, new trial development, grant applications, and the ability to anticipate and consider potential issues or opportunities which could affect delivery and growth of the relevant portfolio. The appointed person must have proven experience of running clinical trials, with a focus on multistakeholder studies collecting patient samples for analysis, and including new trial development. The post holder will be working with Dr Joaquin Prada and European partners to develop epidemiological models for priority diseases in Europe as part of an EU funded project under the EU Partnership for Animal Health and Welfare (https://www.eupahw.eu/). In particular, the postholder will develop and integrate models for the spread of respiratory diseases in pigs and estimate the economic consequences of these diseases, with a focus on surveillance and control. The postholder will take responsibility for data analysis and statistical and mathematical modelling aspects of the projects, integrating outputs from the teams at the partner institutions. In addition, they will be required to participate in activities in Europe. They will be expected to present their work at conferences and to write publications based on their research findings. The post holder will have the opportunity to engage with other research fellows across the University and other project partners, and to take advantage of training opportunities targeted at early career researchers. About you You are finishing a PhD in mathematical modelling or related discipline with research experience in epidemiology/statistics and diseases in pigs, and you are looking for a part-time position as you finish writing up.
