Successful candidates must be available to teach on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. About the Role As a Lecturer in Clinical Skills within the College of Medicine and Public Health, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality teaching across the Doctor of Medicine program. This Teaching Specialist position focuses on clinical skills education, including history-taking, physical examination, procedural skills, and clinical reasoning. You will contribute to curriculum development, innovative teaching practices, and student support, ensuring an exceptional learning experience that aligns with the University’s strategic vision for educational excellence. Deliver inspiring and student-centred teaching in clinical skills across multiple levels and modes. Contribute to curriculum design, review, and continuous improvement of Medicine topics. Incorporate innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance learning outcomes. Provide academic support and professional guidance to students, fostering their development and success. About You You are an experienced educator and clinician with a passion for delivering high-quality, student-centred learning. Your background combines strong academic credentials with current or recent clinical practice, enabling you to bring real-world insights into the classroom. You thrive on innovation in teaching and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students and collaborate effectively with colleagues. You must also be available to teach on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. Relevant qualifications and professional standing in Medicine (e.g., MD, Fellowship) and eligibility for AHPRA registration. Demonstrated excellence in tertiary-level teaching, including innovative approaches and use of educational technologies. Strong curriculum design and assessment skills, with a commitment to enhancing student success. Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to support and mentor students. We are seeking a highly motivated individual- either a Grade 7 PhD holder, or a Grade 6 graduate - to join the EYESAVE project, funded by the Vivensa Foundation Trust, as a Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Lead. The project addresses the growing demands on glaucoma care by developing an AI-enabled triage platform that integrates retinal imaging, clinical data, and machine learning to support early detection and prioritisation of patients at risk of vision loss. The role involves leading PPIE activities to ensure that patient perspectives and lived experiences shape the design, development, and evaluation of the technology throughout the project. Working in collaboration with clinicians, AI researchers, and vision scientists at Newcastle University, Sunderland Eye Hospital and Newcastle RVI, this position offers the opportunity to deliver meaningful impact by embedding co-production and patient voice into cutting-edge research. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in public engagement, health research involvement, or community partnership working to contribute to a high-impact project with strong potential for clinical adoption and real-world benefit. This post is fixed term for 12 months (full-time) or 24 months (part-time) as the project is time and funding-limited. The post-holder is employed to work on research/a research project which will be led by another colleague. Whilst this means that the post-holder will not be carrying out independent research in his/her own right, the expectation is that they will contribute to the advancement of the project, through the development of their own research ideas/adaptation and development of research protocols.
