Research & Faculty Highlights

The Centre for Research and Consultancy (CRC) has been established to promote academic research, Sponsored research and consultancy. Researchers include full time scholars, part time scholars, faculty members, and post graduate and undergraduate students and they collaborate with colleagues across the University. The Centre for Research & Consultancy is headed by Director (Research) and assisted by Dean (Research), Associate Dean (Research) and three Research Coordinators looking after Academic Research, Funded Research, Consultancy respectively and an IPR Coordinator managing IP related issues.

There are 14 Centres of Excellence with excellent modern laboratoryfacilities, few of the centres are Centre for Sustainable Technologies, Centre for AircraftMaintenance, Centre for Autonomous System, Centre for Clean Energy & Convergence,Centre for Higher Education Leadership and Management, Centre for Automation andRobotics (ANRO) Recently, ANRO centre developed a high tech service robot namedSEVILI to assist Medical Frontline during COVID 19 Pandemic. Admission Process & Timelines

  1. UNDERGRADUATE

 HITS takes into consideration students who have passed their Higher Secondary Examination with commendable marks for admission. The University strictly follows the eligibility criteria of UGC norms. Special Admission Programmes HITS recognizes the need for providing educational opportunities for people of widely varying ages and backgrounds. Therefore, special admission programmes are available for potentially successful students from disadvantaged, culturally deprived, or economically impoverished segments of the society. For further details, the Head Ofce can be contacted. Admission to HITS thus, is purely nondiscriminatory. Re-admission Students who were initially enrolled at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science but did not attend the particular semester/term can re-register, provided they left with good conduct and have not enrolled in any other institution after leaving HITS. Such students may be readmitted by submitting a Readmission Form. Students who have been dismissed either from HITS or any other institution will not be readmitted under any circumstances.

 

  1. POSTGRADUATE

Students who have passed their Degree Examination with commendable marks are considered for admission. The Institution strictly follows the eligibility criteria of the UGC norms. Admissions for P. G. Programmes are made through entrance test, group discussions and personal interview. Foreign and Non-Resident Indians (NRI) Candidates Candidates should fulfil the following minimum eligibility criteria to seek admission under -Foreign and Non-Resident Indians (NRI) Candidates Category. Admissions are based on the candidates' performance in the 10 + 2 or equivalent examination and satisfying the guidelines of respective councils governing the engineering and architecture education. The admission procedures, application form and fees are different from the domestic students.

Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU), located in Wenzhou, China, one of three Sino-American universities along with NYU Shanghai and Duke Kunshan University, is approved by the Ministry of Education of China. Launched in 2012, WKU offers a unique model of higher education in partnership with Kean University, a comprehensive, public university in the state of New Jersey that is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. WKU sits on approximately 500 beautiful acres and currently enrolls about 5,200 undergraduate and graduate students, and it is now in the midst of a rapid growth that will bring enrollment to 7,000 students within the next three years. All instruction is in English, and all curriculum is provided by Kean University. About the Job: The College of Science, Mathematics and Technology is seeking highly motivated individuals to join the Department of Natural Sciences at WKU. All faculty positions are full-time assignments, effective at the start of the 2026 Spring or Fall semester. These positions are full-time assignments, appointed on a 3-year contract initially, and are renewable upon a successful review of reappointment. A Lecturer is a full-time employee who teaches 30 credits per year (10-month contract) or 39 credits per year (11-month contract) and provides student and learning support services during the assigned period. Lecturers normally teach up to 3 different courses, with each section typically consisting of 22-28 students. Lecturers will be expected to provide high-quality teaching, student advisement, and learning support services, as well as service to the university, college, school, program, and/or the professional community, and perform related work as required. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, and weekend classes, depending on institutional needs. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Ref.: 533927 Work type: Full-time Department: Faculty of Arts (04000) Categories: Senior Research Staff & Post-doctoral Fellow Research Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Arts (Ref. 533927) The Museum Studies Programme in the Faculty of Arts is seeking a Research Assistant Professor to work on a project titled “Scientific Analysis of Chinese Painting,” in collaboration with the Hong Kong Museum of Art (HKMoA) and the Laboratory for Conservation and Science at HKU’s University Museum and Art Gallery (LCSD), to commence in January 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter, for a period of three years. The appointee will conduct their analytical work in the Laboratory for Conservation and Science at HKU’s University Museum and Art Gallery, as well as at the Conservation Office of the LCSD, on Chinese paintings from the HKMoA collection. This Fellowship aims to support research into the development of material techniques and practices in Chinese painting, including ink, pigments, seals, supports, and mounting methods. The primary duties of the appointee will include the following: Perform scientific research: (a) to characterize materials, structures and components of Chinese paintings; (b) to broaden ways of studying these artworks, and (c) to synthesize scientific findings to address art historical questions and preservation challenges. Use advanced imaging technologies and scientific methods to uncover regional and historical differences in artistic practices and their broader significance for art history and conservation science. Publish scientific research in cultural heritage science and technical art history in excellent scholarly venues. Maintain working relationships with curators and conservators at HKMoA/LCSD, as well as with HKU’s faculty and technical staff, to foster collaborative research projects and publications focused on cultural heritage science. This may include overseeing efforts to engage selected students with the field of conservation. Work with the Principal Investigator of the Laboratory for Conservation and Science and the Head of Conservation at LCSD to foster understanding and assimilation of results and approaches of scientific research in the arts among curators, conservators, university professors and their students, administrators, other staff, the general public, and other HKU and HKMoA/LCSD stakeholders. Teach not less than one and up to two courses per year, and offer one workshop on the analysis of Chinese paintings. Travel to attend conferences, present papers, and share research with colleagues in Hong Kong, China, and internationally. The appointee will lead at least one trip during the fellowship with selected students to world-leading museums and/or conservation labs for overseas learning and training purposes. Perform any other duties as directed by the Dean of Arts or the Director of the Museum Studies Programme or the PI. Applicants must have a PhD degree in Chemistry, Material Science and Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines, or in Conservation/Heritage/Archaeological Science prior to the start of the fellowship. The degree must have been obtained within the last three years. Applicants should also be familiar with relevant scientific instrumentation such as infrared and ultraviolet/visible spectroscopy, optical microscopy, and X-ray fluorescence as well as data science skills.
