Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS), established in the year 1985, the institution offers a wide spectrum of Undergraduate Programmes, Post Graduate Programmes, Diploma Programmes, Research and Doctoral Programmes in diverse fields of Engineering, Technology, Management, Architecture, Liberal Arts, Applied Sciences, Design, Allied Health Sciences and Law.  The students’ community comprises students from several countries across the globe and it includes, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Indonesia, Kenya, Korea,Liberia, Libya, Mauritius, Nigeria, Oman, Rwanda, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea,Sudan, U.A.E, Thailand, Vietnam, Tanzania, USA, etc. HITS has more than 25,000 Alumniwith 5 international alumni chapters across the globe.

HITS  has the distinction of being accredited with an “A” Grade by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC), Govt. of India with a score of 3.3/4.0 and is a Category 2 Institution with many privileges from the Government. National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has accredited 5 B.Tech programs of the University.

National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India has ranked Hindustan Institute of Technology is ranked in the 107th Position in India under Engineering category and ranked 20th in Architecture in the NIRF Rankings2020. The students’ community comprises students from several foreign countries in addition to those from all over India, thus offering a cosmopolitan campus environment.

In the international front HITS has achieved overall 201-300 rank in THE Impact rankings 2020. It is the only institution in Indiathat tops the table in THE Impact rankings for SDG6 across the globe and it has attained 18thRank in THE SDG 6 (Clean water and Sanitation), 58th rank in SDG 7 Affordable and Cleanenergy), 95th Rank in SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), 401-600 Rank inSDG 17 (Partnership goals). 

 

Research & Faculty Highlights

The Centre for Research and Consultancy (CRC) has been established to promote academic research, Sponsored research and consultancy. Researchers include full time scholars, part time scholars, faculty members, and post graduate and undergraduate students and they collaborate with colleagues across the University. The Centre for Research & Consultancy is headed by Director (Research) and assisted by Dean (Research), Associate Dean (Research) and three Research Coordinators looking after Academic Research, Funded Research, Consultancy respectively and an IPR Coordinator managing IP related issues.

There are 14 Centres of Excellence with excellent modern laboratoryfacilities, few of the centres are Centre for Sustainable Technologies, Centre for AircraftMaintenance, Centre for Autonomous System, Centre for Clean Energy & Convergence,Centre for Higher Education Leadership and Management, Centre for Automation andRobotics (ANRO) Recently, ANRO centre developed a high tech service robot namedSEVILI to assist Medical Frontline during COVID 19 Pandemic. Staff have earned patents and are associated with several projects.

Admission Process & Timelines

  1. UNDERGRADUATE

 HITS takes into consideration students who have passed their Higher Secondary Examination with commendable marks for admission. The University strictly follows the eligibility criteria of UGC norms. Special Admission Programmes HITS recognizes the need for providing educational opportunities for people of widely varying ages and backgrounds. Therefore, special admission programmes are available for potentially successful students from disadvantaged, culturally deprived, or economically impoverished segments of the society. For further details, the Head Ofce can be contacted. Admission to HITS thus, is purely nondiscriminatory. Re-admission Students who were initially enrolled at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science but did not attend the particular semester/term can re-register, provided they left with good conduct and have not enrolled in any other institution after leaving HITS. Such students may be readmitted by submitting a Readmission Form. Students who have been dismissed either from HITS or any other institution will not be readmitted under any circumstances.

 

  1. POSTGRADUATE

Students who have passed their Degree Examination with commendable marks are considered for admission. The Institution strictly follows the eligibility criteria of the UGC norms. Admissions for P. G. Programmes are made through entrance test, group discussions and personal interview. Foreign and Non-Resident Indians (NRI) Candidates Candidates should fulfil the following minimum eligibility criteria to seek admission under -Foreign and Non-Resident Indians (NRI) Candidates Category. Admissions are based on the candidates' performance in the 10 + 2 or equivalent examination and satisfying the guidelines of respective councils governing the engineering and architecture education. The admission procedures, application form and fees are different from the domestic students.

The Role The School seeks to appoint a two-year Career Development Fellow in French & Francophone Studies. Applications are welcome from those working in all areas of French & Francophone literary and cultural studies, and we are especially interested to receive applications from those with specialisms in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. In line with institutional expectations for Career Development Fellowships, your time will be divided between the three core activities of teaching (60%), research (30%) and citizenship (10%). The post offers an exciting opportunity to develop internationally excellent research/scholarship and teaching while providing unrivalled, tailored support for your career progression at an exciting and progressive institution. Given the developmental nature of the role it is not anticipated that the post will be extended beyond the initial fixed term of two years. Following the end of the term, the role-holder will be in a strong position to apply for relevant permanent academic roles, should they arise, at Durham or elsewhere. Successful applicants are normally expected to be within 8 years of completing their PhD, although career breaks for parental leave and/or health reasons will be considered. This is because the role is aimed at early career academics who would benefit from a structured development programme and provision of both formal and 'on the job' training. The post is also open to those who are returning to academia after a career in another sector. Successful applicants will ideally be in post by 1 September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Description The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to support the project LANDMark on research on land economics, in any of the following areas: Measurement of land prices, with a focus on imputation techniques Land value determinants: public infrastructures (transport, health, and education services) Macroeconomic stability and instability in the presence of land as a fixed, non-produced asset Taxation of land wealth as an alternative to the consumption tax and the capital tax The political economy of land and its taxation Land, fixed resources, and political conflict The successful applicant will contribute to the research centered on any of these themes. The qualified candidate will have a Ph.D. in economics or another quantitative field with no more than five years from receipt of the degree, and an appetite for working on interdisciplinary teams. This position requires: Research experience in the mentioned areas of land (in a broad sense, including housing, macroeconomics, labor, urban, spatial economics, political economy, and conflict). Experience supporting indigenous, equity or inclusion focused initiatives is highly desirable.  The selection criteria being sought are: Proven academic excellence in a field relevant to the School, and a record of academic achievement suitable for appointment as a professor (preferably) or associate professor. Demonstrated leadership and people management experience in an academic setting, with responsibility for staff performance and development. Direct line management of academic staff and leadership of a school, department or equivalent unit is preferable. Successful track record securing grant funding and external research income. Demonstrated ability developing significant connections and partnerships with key stakeholders including government, industry, business and community. A champion for equity, diversity and inclusion. A brief summary of your interest and experience embracing innovation. A relevant PhD/doctorate is mandatory.
