In the international front HITS has achieved overall 201-300 rank in THE Impact rankings 2020. Research & Faculty Highlights

The Centre for Research and Consultancy (CRC) has been established to promote academic research, Sponsored research and consultancy. Researchers include full time scholars, part time scholars, faculty members, and post graduate and undergraduate students and they collaborate with colleagues across the University. The Centre for Research & Consultancy is headed by Director (Research) and assisted by Dean (Research), Associate Dean (Research) and three Research Coordinators looking after Academic Research, Funded Research, Consultancy respectively and an IPR Coordinator managing IP related issues.

There are 14 Centres of Excellence with excellent modern laboratoryfacilities, few of the centres are Centre for Sustainable Technologies, Centre for AircraftMaintenance, Centre for Autonomous System, Centre for Clean Energy & Convergence,Centre for Higher Education Leadership and Management, Centre for Automation andRobotics (ANRO) Recently, ANRO centre developed a high tech service robot namedSEVILI to assist Medical Frontline during COVID 19 Pandemic. Staff have earned patents and are associated with several projects.

Admission Process & Timelines

  1. UNDERGRADUATE

 HITS takes into consideration students who have passed their Higher Secondary Examination with commendable marks for admission. The University strictly follows the eligibility criteria of UGC norms. Special Admission Programmes HITS recognizes the need for providing educational opportunities for people of widely varying ages and backgrounds. Therefore, special admission programmes are available for potentially successful students from disadvantaged, culturally deprived, or economically impoverished segments of the society. For further details, the Head Ofce can be contacted. Admission to HITS thus, is purely nondiscriminatory. Re-admission Students who were initially enrolled at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science but did not attend the particular semester/term can re-register, provided they left with good conduct and have not enrolled in any other institution after leaving HITS. Such students may be readmitted by submitting a Readmission Form. Students who have been dismissed either from HITS or any other institution will not be readmitted under any circumstances.

 

  1. POSTGRADUATE

Students who have passed their Degree Examination with commendable marks are considered for admission. The Institution strictly follows the eligibility criteria of the UGC norms. Admissions for P. G. Programmes are made through entrance test, group discussions and personal interview. Foreign and Non-Resident Indians (NRI) Candidates Candidates should fulfil the following minimum eligibility criteria to seek admission under -Foreign and Non-Resident Indians (NRI) Candidates Category. Admissions are based on the candidates' performance in the 10 + 2 or equivalent examination and satisfying the guidelines of respective councils governing the engineering and architecture education. The admission procedures, application form and fees are different from the domestic students.

These are full-time, permanent positions. Mo tenei turanga mahi - About the role These positions are the first appointments in a cluster of hires that will form part of a new collaborative Joint Education Institute programme between the School of Agriculture and Environment at Massey University in New Zealand and Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University, Yangling, China. The primary responsibility of these roles is the delivery of teaching within this collaborative programme. The positions will be based at the NWAFU campus in Yangling, China, and appointees will be expected to reside there and be present on campus during the teaching semesters at a minimum. Subject to programme requirements, up to two weeks per year may be spent at the Massey University campus in Palmerston North, New Zealand, outside of the teaching periods. The language of instruction will be English and the role includes: Preparing and presenting lectures, tutorials and other classes for undergraduate students in programmes offered, or contributed to, by the School of Agriculture and Environment at NWAFU. Co-developing curricula for courses as required and directed by the leadership of the Joint Education Institute, using teaching material currently used in Massey University programmes. About the role This position will undertake research using the Kids and Sibs study, a longitudinal investigation examining predictors of bipolar disorder development in a high-risk population with up to 15 years of follow-up. The study includes rich phenotypic data, as well as neuroimaging and blood biomarkers (including genetic data) on up to 440 individuals, with varying lengths of follow up (PI Mitchell). The data are aligned with an international dataset (across four US Universities) ensuring opportunities for robust replication. We also encourage applicants with broad interests in neuroscience and epidemiology relating skills, as additional research opportunities are available using linked data research, and intervention development/evaluation (PI Ratheesh). Applicants with prior research expertise relating to bipolar disorder or depression are especially encouraged. The MedTech Founders program is executed part-time. Through need-driven innovation, you will develop clinically validated solutions and commercialization pathways at the intersection of research and entrepreneurship. The MedTech Founders program is organized by Aalto University through Biodesign Finland, a healthcare innovation and training program jointly developed by Helsinki University Hospital (HUS) and Aalto University. The positions, program structure and effort needed The program runs for 6.5 months. Selected candidates will be employed by Aalto University in a 20% part-time position for the duration of the program. Participation in the MedTech Founders Program requires a weekly time commitment corresponding to the 20% part-time position. This includes training sessions, clinical immersion, project work, teamwork, independent study, and other program-related activities. The part-time employment arrangement is one element of the program's implementation. The MedTech Founders training modules amount to 8 ECTS (see credits and certification below). During the program you will focus on clinical needs identification with HUS clinicians and healthcare professionals. After the need is identified you will build new need-based medical solutions and seek funding towards commercialization of your project supported by the program faculty and mentors. Your role and goals As a participant in the MedTech Founders Program, you will learn and apply a proven need-driven innovation process for identifying and addressing unmet clinical needs. The program aims to develop research-based and need-driven medical technology solutions with commercial potential while fostering the creation of new medtech ventures. Following an introductory training period, you will be immersed in a healthcare environment where you will observe healthcare professionals, clinical workflows, and medical technologies in everyday use. Through these observations, you and your team will identify unmet clinical needs and opportunities for innovation. Using the Biodesign innovation process, you will evaluate and prioritize identified needs and focus on developing a technically feasible and commercially viable solution to one selected healthcare need. Throughout the program, you will be supported by experienced instructors, healthcare professionals, industry experts, and mentors. The identified needs and proposed solutions will be further refined in collaboration with healthcare stakeholders to ensure their clinical relevance and potential impact. You are expected to take the leadership and responsibility for your project and the development and validation of the selected solution. The ultimate goal is to create innovations that can improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes while offering a pathway toward future commercialization. Program participants continue typically developing their solutions through follow-on research projects, innovation funding programs, or startups established after completing the program. What we are looking for We are looking for motivated individuals who have: A Master's degree or a higher University of Applied Sciences (UAS) degree, or equivalent expertise in engineering, data science (e.g., AI or machine learning), design and service design, clinical practice, life sciences, business, entrepreneurship, or another relevant field. University students applying to the program need to have completed all studies by the end of September 2026. Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English. Fluency in Finnish is considered an advantage. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to take initiative in uncertain environments. Strong interest and capacity for startup-entrepreneurship Strong analytical, problem-solving, and information-gathering skills. A willingness to take on leadership responsibilities and pursue the commercialization of project outcomes through a startup, research commercialization pathway, or an existing company. Previous program-related work experience after graduation and/or entrepreneurial experience are considered an advantage. Relevant experience may include business development, product development, engineering, data science (e.g., AI or machine learning), design and service design, healthcare, clinical practice, life sciences, entrepreneurship, or other related fields. The program is suitable for university students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and professionals who want to transform healthcare innovations into real-world impact. This role must be performed from Finland. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Finland and be based in Finland by the start date and for the duration of the employment.  Onsite participation during typical office hours is required, in addition to self-study. Participation in the MedTech Founders Program requires a weekly time commitment corresponding to the 20% part-time position. This includes training sessions, clinical immersion, project work, teamwork, independent study, and other program-related activities. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with the Principal Investigator (PI), co-PIs, research team and industry partners to ensure all project deliverables are met. Conduct insights-driven evaluations of existing QA/QC testing practices and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce redundant testing while maintaining compliance. Curate, standardize and integrate historical and statistical data to form the foundation of a structured database for construction QA/QC and traceability. Design and implement a digital chain-of-custody framework that captures assurance records including mill certificates, fabrication data, inspection results and carbon footprint information. Develop, train and validate AI models to automate QA/QC processes, enabling real-time verification, anomaly detection and consistency checks across records. Develop a cloud-based verification platform for digital data collection and real-time analytics. Develop and apply non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and data-driven approaches to determine material properties of reclaimed steel. Investigate geometric imperfections, accumulated deformations, and their impact on structural performance, particularly for compression members. Develop data-driven reusability assessment platforms integrating NDT data, machine learning models, and RFID-enabled traceability systems. Prepare and draft technical reports, conference/journal papers, and presentation materials; present research findings to internal reviews, industry partners and stakeholders. Engage with industry stakeholders throughout development, testing and refinement to ensure alignment with real-world requirements. To communicate in any relevant internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor.  Job Requirements Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Civil/Construction Engineering, Engineering Systems or equivalent. Strong foundation in data engineering, AI/ML development, and software systems (e.g., data pipelines, cloud services, dashboards, web-based application development). Experience in handling real-world datasets and model development/deployment workflows. Domain expertise in building construction/civil/structural engineering, including familiarity with building management systems, software integration, data collection and analysis. Knowledge of construction QA/QC and quality control workflows (e.g., inspection processes, test documentation, traceability and compliance records) is an advantage. Strong background in structural engineering, structural mechanics, or steel structures. Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques for structural materials is desirable. Experience with structural modelling and analysis tools (e.g., finite element modelling, structural simulation) is desirable. Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams. Strong analytical and conceptual abilities; able to work both in a team and independently. Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
