Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development is located in Egypt’s El-Salam City, and was established in 2009 as the first university in the Middle East to declare sustainable development as its main principle.

The university is located near El-Salam City, near the city of Cairo.

The faculties at Heliopolis include: engineering, pharmacy, business and economics, physical therapy, and organic agriculture and all courses are taught with sustainable development at their core. All students at the university will also participate in the core programme which aims to enrich the student experience by focusing on human development and sustainability. The program includes activities in the arts, music, theatre, and languages.

There is a range of facilities on campus at Heliopolis University, including a botanical garden, a medical centre, library, and a range of sporting facilities. Students can use the various sporting courts for handball, basketball, football, ping pong, and there is an outdoor track and field for those who enjoy athletics.

There is a students union to support students during their time at university, and also offers those interested in politics and leadership the opportunity to run in the yearly elections.

Description The Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a motivated post-doctoral associate with a strong background in game theory, control systems, and/or learning theory to join the research team of Prof. Muhammad Umar B. Niazi. The position focuses on the design and implementation of incentive mechanisms for sociotechnical and cyber-physical-human systems, with particular emphasis on smart mobility and urban transportation networks. In particular, the successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge research in: Adaptive incentive mechanism design for complex sociotechnical systems Strategic learning and equilibrium-seeking algorithms in transportation networks Game-theoretic approaches to cybersecurity and security games Integration of human behavior modeling in smart mobility systems Required Qualifications: The requirements for the applicants include: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or related fields Strong background in game theory, mechanism design, control systems, and/or learning theory Programming proficiency and experience with simulation tools Excellent publication record in peer-reviewed journals Strong written and verbal communication skills Duration: The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and research output. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.  The Future Ship and System Design (FSSD) programme aims to develop strategic and innovative design capabilities for the maritime industry in Singapore and globally. Within this programme, Work Package WP2.2 focuses on research in several key areas: design Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), functional FMECA, advanced sensing techniques, sensor and operational data fusion, data analytics, and machine learning algorithms for condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, and early fault prediction in electric vessels. The primary responsibility of this role is to contribute to research in design FMECA, functional FMECA, and ship sensing, as part of the WP2.2 research team within the FSSD programme. Key Responsibilities Work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, and research team members to manage and execute the project, ensuring that all deliverables are successfully achieved.  Key responsibilities in this project include: Developing an FMECA analysis solution that integrates condition monitoring data to update actual failure modes, effects, and severity assessments. Designing and conducting experiments to simulate various ship fault conditions, implementing sensing for data collection, and developing an equipment health monitoring system. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. The Research staff is to liaise with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other adhoc duties as assigned by Supervisor. Job Requirements Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Have relevant knowledge in the areas of shipboard system design, FMECA and reliability analysis. Have a degree in Electrical Engineering/Mechanical engineering or equivalent. Knowledge of sensing, FMECA, equipment health management and programming will be advantageous. Knowledge of intelligent decision agents based on graph neural network or similar will an advantage. Key Competencies Good knowledge in reliability analysis. Experience in FMECA and equipment health management will be advantageous. Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Show strong initiative and take ownership of work. Major Challenges Integrating Multidisciplinary Knowledge The role requires expertise across multiple domains—FMECA, sensing technologies, data fusion, data analytics, and machine learning. Combining these diverse skill sets to develop a unified and reliable solution can be technically demanding. Description The Research Center SHORES seeks to recruit a Postdoctoral Associate to work in the field of geotechnical engineering. Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field, and should demonstrate strong expertise in at least two of the following areas: Large-deformation numerical modeling (e.g., Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL), Material Point Method (MPM), or advanced Finite Element Methods). Physical modeling of tunnel excavation and ground response (e.g., geotechnical centrifuge testing, lab-scale TBM experiments). Probabilistic and reliability-based analysis applied to underground structures. Advanced subsurface characterization techniques integrating geotechnical and geophysical data. Geohazard mapping and modeling, including tunnel-induced ground movements, sinkholes, landslides, or subsidence. Research Project: The Postdoctoral Associate will work on a research initiative to improve the predictive modeling of tunnel performance and ground risks in variable and uncertain geologies.
