Hanoi Medical University was the first modern university in Vietnam when it was founded as Indochina Medical College in 1902.
It offers programmes in general medicine, traditional medicine, maxillofacial surgery, preventive medicine, public health, medical laboratory technique, nutrition, nursing, advanced nursing, opthalmic refraction, rehabilitation technique, dental reconstruction technique, midwifery and psychology.
It offers additional classes in traditional medicine, a discipline taught since 1961, to students with overseas qualifications.
The general hospital has operated as both a public hospital and the university's experimental facility since 2007.
A 15-storey dormitory building has places for 2000 students, with 167 men and 240 women newly accepted in 2023.
The Hoc Mai programme has enabled student exchanges with Australian medical schools since 1998, while HUMS is one of three Vietnamese medical schools which signed a partnership with Harvard Medical School in 2022.

Description We are inviting applications for a Post-doctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in Economics with fields of research in Macroeconomics or Computational Social Science. The appointment is for 2 years and will begin September 1, 2026, subject to final budget approval and visa acquisition by the prospective postdoc candidate. The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research, and half their time on collaborative research with Professors Alaïs Martin-Baillon, Jordan Norris, and Samreen Malik. The collaborative research will be on macroeconomic expectations, with a focus on firms and the role of networks. An ideal candidate may have experience with surveys and have expertise in computational economics. The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation. The positions are fixed-term until 31 December 2030, with a starting date of 1 September 2026 or upon agreement. About the positions: The University of Helsinki’s four Top research areas – Future Technologies, Sustainable Planet, Learning and Evolving Societies, and Precision Health – bring together the university’s strengths and enhance the international visibility of its research. As a Program Manager, you will promote research activities within the Top research areas and coordinate collaboration. You will support the creation of new collaboration initiatives and facilitate applications for research funding.
