The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) is a non-profit private liberal-arts-oriented university in Hong Kong, offering a wide range of undergraduate and taught postgraduate degree programmes.

HSUHK aspires to be a leading non-profit private liberal-arts-oriented university in the region, recognised for excellence in teaching, learning and research, and for contributions to advancing our society and the world. HSUHK has five Schools (BusinessCommunicationDecision SciencesHumanities and Social Science, and Translation and Foreign Languages), with around 6,000 full-time students and over 200 full-time academic staff members at present.

HSUHK offers a wide range of 4-year bachelor’s (honours) degree programmes and master’s degree programmes. Many of these programmes are unique and the first of its kind in the region. All programmes were accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) and recognised by the Governments of the HKSAR, Mainland China and Taiwan.

 

The “Liberal + Professional” Education Model

Adopting the unique ‘Liberal + Professional’ education model which incorporates the iGPS ‘desired graduate attributes’ framework, wherein ‘i’ stands for ‘Intellectual Competence’, ‘G’ stands for ‘Generic Skills’, ‘P’ stands for ‘Personal Development’ and ‘S’ stands for ‘Society Engagement’, HSUHK puts quality teaching and students’ all-round development as its highest priorities. HSUHK believes in the transformative power of this educational model, and its effectiveness in facilitating students’ realisation of their full potential.

‘Liberal’ means a broad-based and cross-disciplinary approach to connect knowledge domains, facilitate thinking, and solve problems. The University believes that the purpose of undergraduate education is not solely to help students acquire more knowledge and better job prospects after graduation, but also to cultivate their personal values, interests and transferrable core competencies, thus preparing them to become well-rounded responsible individuals who can meet future work and life challenges with confidence.

‘Professional’ means that although HSUHK’s educational approach is broad-based and cross-disciplinary, in view of the fact that most university graduates in Hong Kong tend to seek full-time jobs right after obtaining their first degree, many of HSUHK’s degree programmes also incorporate professional subject elements, with the aim of equipping students with the knowledge and skills required to enter into particular professions in the future.

As a self-financing institution, the University finds strength in its autonomy, flexibility and responsiveness to meet community and market needs by developing new innovative programmes, many of which are the first of its kind in Hong Kong.

In programme design, there is a good balance of major studies, common core curriculum and free electives; whereas ample development opportunities/activities form an integral part of students’ holistic educational experience. These opportunities/activities include valuable residential, internship, service-learning, leadership, global exchange and independent research experiences, etc. Students actively engage themselves in different learning opportunities so that they would know themselves better, broaden their global horizons, engage in continuous learning, boost their self-confidence, and realise their potential. The aim is to nurture young talents with critical thinking, innovative minds, caring attitudes, moral values and social responsibility.

About the Centre for Quantitative History (CQH) The Centre for Quantitative History (CQH) is a focal institution studying economic, financial, and social history in a quantitative fashion, hosted at the HKU Business School in collaboration with the Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences. The Centre was founded as an Area of Excellence designated and funded by the Research Grants Council of the University Grants Committee of Hong Kong. The Role The appointees will primarily work with the Principal Investigators on the study of China’s economic, financial, social, and other histories, oriented toward academic journal publications. They will lead a few Research Assistants and actively contribute to various activities of the Centre. The responsibilities of this role include moderating research seminars, overseeing the Centre’s publications, and coordinating its seminars and biennial conferences. They are expected to engage in the academic life of the Centre by regularly attending readings, lectures, presentations, and other campus activities. Qualifications and Qualities Applicants should possess Ph.D. degree in Economics, Finance, History, or a closely related field in the recent three years (or will complete the Ph.D. degree before 2026 Summer). They should have a well-demonstrated interest in quantitative history research, and excellent communication skills in Chinese and English for both writing and oral presentation. Role Overview As a University of Applied Learning, Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) works closely with industry partners to develop applied research capabilities that translate directly into real-world deployment. Our research staff are equipped with industry-relevant skills through hands-on work on operational research platforms and systems. The SIT Centre for Intelligent Robotics (CIR) is a strategic capability centre under RoboPrecinct@Punggol Digital District (PDD), responsible for developing and sustaining the simulation, digital twin, and embodied AI foundations required for precinct-level deployment of robotic systems. We are seeking a Robotics Simulation Engineer to support the Centre’s robotics and embodied AI initiatives. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and maintenance of multi-platform robotics simulation environments, supporting research, development, testing, and Sim2Real transfer of robotic systems. The successful candidate will work across NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo, and related simulation platforms, enabling scalable experimentation and robust system-level evaluation prior to real-world deployment. Key Responsibilities Develop, configure, and maintain robotics simulation environments across multiple platforms, including NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo, and other relevant simulators for different applications and robotics platform Design modular and reusable simulation assets for robots, environments, sensors, and physics configurations. Integrate robotic platforms into simulation, including URDF/SDF workflows, articulation setup, and validation of kinematics and dynamics. Configure and tune physics simulation parameters (contacts, friction, joint limits, control rates, solver settings) to ensure realistic robot behaviour. Develop and maintain sensor simulation pipelines (RGB, depth, RGB-D, LiDAR, IMU) for perception and learning-based robotics. Support simulation-to-real (Sim2Real) workflows, including domain randomization, sensor noise modelling, and reality-gap mitigation. Integrate simulations with ROS / ROS 2 for closed-loop robot control, testing, and benchmarking. Automate simulation setup, execution, and experiment management using Python and C++, supporting batch experiments and data collection. Support system-level experimentation, benchmarking, and iterative improvement of embodied AI and robotic applications. Prepare technical documentation, simulation guidelines, and reusable templates to support knowledge transfer and long-term maintainability. Provide mentorship to undergraduate students in projects. Carry out risk assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and implementation guides to support knowledge transfer and long-term maintainability. Contribute to publications and technical notes to disseminate research outcomes. The employee is to communicate with any relevant internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other adhoc duties assigned by supervisor. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related discipline. Hands-on experience with at least two robotics simulation platforms, such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or MuJoCo. Practical experience working with URDF and/or SDF robot models and simulation integration. Working knowledge of robotics physics and dynamics, including articulated systems. Experience integrating simulation environments with ROS or ROS 2. Proficiency in Python, with working knowledge of C++ for simulation or robotics software development. Minimum 2 years of experience in robotics simulation, robotics research, or industry-based robotics projects. Preferred Skillsets (Advantageous) Experience with USD-based workflows and Omniverse-based simulation environments. Familiarity with PhysX and/or other physics engines used in robotics simulation. Experience supporting Sim2Real pipelines for real-robot deployment. Exposure to reinforcement learning, imitation learning, or learning-based control in simulation. Versatility to contribute to a wide range of Game Design-related modules across the programme, which should include capability in technical aspects (e.g. programming, game engines) as well as the visual, spatial, and sonic aspects of the discipline (e.g. Game Art, UX/UI, 3D modelling, composition of music for games, sound recording) High level of skill in software found in the undergraduate curriculum (e.g. Unreal, Unity) as well as 3D modelling software (e.g. Blender, Maya) Knowledge of theories and concepts related to games and audiovisual media, particularly with respect to visual and spatial aspect Sufficient level of skill to teach at undergraduate level across Computer Science and Game Design Skills applicable to Virtual Learning Environments (e.g. Canvas or equivalent) to support student learning Proficiency in aspects of audio technology and creative practice, such as Digital Audio Workstations (e.g. Logic Pro, Ableton) Skills in computer-based music composition Knowledge of the gaming industry Personal Attributes Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and contribute effectively to departmental and institutional goals.
