Description The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to join this new initiative, which focuses on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use. The successful applicant will join a project to develop a glaucoma implant. This project entails computational modeling, implant design and manufacturing, optimization, and preclinical experiments using an animal model. The candidate will be working closely with a team of ophthalmologists. Applicants must have a BS in an engineering or biomedical-related discipline, with an experience in a laboratory setting, and an ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team; with strong organization, communication, problem-solving and time management skills. High proficiency in English is required. Excellent computational modeling skills using ANSYS and COMSOL are strongly preferred. The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children. The system targets three key challenges in healthcare facility operations: ergonomic safety for an ageing workforce, infection control, and retrofit compatibility with existing ceiling tracks and reusable curtains.
