Established in 1928, Guangxi’s first president was the famous scientist and educator Ma Junwu. It became a comprehensive university in 1936 with courses in liberal arts, sciences, engineering, agriculture and medicine. Then in 1939, it advanced to become a national university and by 1949, had five colleges with 22 different departments. In 1997, Guangxi University and the former Guangxi Agricultural University merged. It now has 30 colleges covering nine disciplines: philosophy, economics, law, liberal arts, science, engineering, agriculture, management and education. Colleges include: the college of public management, the college of commerce, the college of culture and mass communication, the college of foreign languages and the college of physical science, among others. Located in Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi, the campus spreads 307 hectares, with a 1.2km² building area. It is not far from the Chinese border with Vietnam and has a warm tropical climate. The area is well-known for its green spaces like the People’s Park, which includes the White Dragon Lake, a hilltop fort and a botanical garden. There is a library with over 2.52 million volumes, just under 100 laboratories, a demonstration base for modern agricultural techniques and 61 research institutes. It has established links and academic exchanges with 100 universities or higher education establishments in 28 different countries. Notable alumni include Dr. Yang Zhenning, a Nobel Prize winner and Pan Jiazheng, academician and vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Location: Bedford Park / Kaurna Country View Position Description About the Role The Technical Assistant supports the delivery of high‑quality teaching within Simulated Learning Environments for Medicine and Paramedicine programs. Working as part of the Teaching Technical Support team, the role focuses on preparing, setting up and maintaining practical learning spaces, equipment and workshops to ensure smooth and effective student learning experiences across campus and external locations. The position operates under routine to general supervision and contributes to safe, well‑organised and student‑centred teaching environments. Assisting with the setup, pack‑down and operation of simulated learning and practical teaching sessions, including off‑site activities at Festival Plaza. Maintaining, assembling, testing and repairing specialised technical equipment to ensure it is clean, functional and ready for use. Supporting Work Health and Safety practices within teaching spaces, including safe handling of equipment and compliance with procedures. Maintaining accurate records for equipment inventories, consumables, maintenance schedules and stock orders. About You You are a reliable and practical technical professional with experience supporting hands‑on learning environments, ideally within health, education or simulated learning settings. Relevant qualifications and/or hands‑on experience supporting technical or practical learning environments, ideally within Medicine or Paramedicine. Demonstrated ability to prepare, maintain and manage technical equipment, including basic assembly, testing, repairs and stock control. Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety principles, with the ability to follow procedures and contribute to safe teaching spaces. Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, work flexibly and collaborate effectively with academic and technical teams. USAIS is renowned for providing a regional service for severely and profoundly deaf children, young people and adults across the south of England and the Channel Islands. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to life-changing care for individuals with severe to profound hearing loss, supporting them through assessment, implantation, and rehabilitation and beyond. The work includes specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy and there are opportunities for individual work, group work, and work with the wider system. Consultation and advice on patient’s psychological care to the wider multi-disciplinary team, as well as liaison with external agencies is an important aspect of the work. You will be a valued and key member of the multi-disciplinary team and have opportunities to shape the Clinical Psychology Service at USAIS. There are opportunities to teach on courses run at the University and with partner charities and organisations, as well as be involved in audit and service development within USAIS. You will also have a key role in the USAIS safeguarding team which provides consultation and support to the wider team. Attendances at conferences and training courses is encouraged and supported for continuing professional development.
