Graceland University is an arts university with separate campuses in Iowa and Missouri. With roots dating back to 1895, Graceland was established with affinities to the Community of Christ (formerly RLDS Church).
The main campus is in Lamoni in Iowa, which offers a vast majority of the 50 degrees on offer. Some of the most popular subjects are: English, history, psychology, accounting, international studies, and philosophy. Graceland also offers online programmes.
Graceland is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Moreover, the teacher education programme is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, and nursing programme is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. This ensures that students are properly prepared to enter the professional world.
The university is known to have small class sizes, which facilitates student growth, as well as a selective admissions process.
There are over 50 clubs and organisations for students to explore, with over 250 leadership positions up for grabs. Some of the most popular student clubs include: the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), International Club, Outreach International club, Enactus, Art Student Society and Sustainability Club.
In 2012, the university took on a rejuvenation project on campus, with the completion of the Shaw Centre, which placed a renewed emphasis on the performing arts. Graceland performance groups include Chamber Singers, Concert Choir, Oratorio Chorus, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Symphonic Band, Orchestra and Theatre. In that year, Graceland doubled its number of annual theatre productions.
Notable alumni include Caitlyn Jenner – formerly known as Bruce Jenner – an American television personality and retired Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete, David Yost, an American actor and producer who is best known for portraying Billy Cranston in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and Teresa Carpenter, an Pulitzer prize winning and bestselling American author.

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry funded research project where you will be part of the research team to develop advanced Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance (NQR) scanning technologies. Job Responsibilities Participate in research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: i. Conduct comprehensive literature review on NQR technology, including design approaches, scanning methods, signal processing techniques, and comparison with alternative detection technologies. ii. Support design and development of NQR prototype, including system architecture, component selection, and experimental setup. iii. Conduct lab and site tests to evaluate the performance of NQR prototype. iv. Generate design documents and test documents at every stage of development until the final prototype. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements Has a bachelor’s degree in Electronics; Specialization in RF/Microwave or Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is preferred. Has solid knowledge of electronics, including circuit design, PCB layout, and hardware troubleshooting. Has relevant competence in the areas of Radio Frequency design and measurement; Familiarity with high-power amplifier systems is a plus. Has relevant experience in the areas of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) design and implementation is a plus. Experience in electromagnetic simulation using CST Studio Suite and circuit simulation with PSpice, LTspice, or equivalent is an advantage. Experience with developing software for instrument control and data acquisition using LabVIEW is helpful. Key Competencies Strong experimental skills and theoretical knowledge in electronic circuits, and RF or DSP design, with the ability to apply hands-on prototyping and system development. Schemes of Service: Research Division: Food, Chemical and Biotechnology Employment Type: Fixed Term Research Fellow / Engineer (Insect Protein Chemistry & Functional Beverage Development) As a University of Applied Learning, the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) works closely with industry partners to deliver translational, impact-driven research. This role supports an awarded applied research project on cricket protein (CP)-based functional beverages, focusing on protein chemistry, emulsion engineering, scalable food processing, and consumer acceptance. The appointee will contribute to SIT's sustainable food innovation agenda, working within a multidisciplinary team with access to established research platforms and pilot-scale facilities. Key Responsibilities Characterise insect protein and their hydrolysates for compositional and techno-functional properties under different processing conditions (enzymatic hydrolysis, heating, drying, homogenization) Investigate the impact of food processing on protein-polysaccharide interactions under different food processing conditions. Profile phenolic compound and evaluate the bio-functional properties such as antioxidant activity Identify optimal processing conditions that minimise bioactive losses for functional beverage applications. Design and formulate insect protein-based oil-in-water emulsions for the encapsulation and delivery of bioactives. Develop and optimise functional beverage prototypes that are suitable for industry-scale beverage manufacturing and evaluate their emulsion stability and estimated shelf-life. Conduct in vitro bioaccessibility and bioavailability studies for encapsulated nutrients using existing SIT analytical facilities. Support the design and execution of consumer surveys assessing Singapore consumers' acceptance of foods and beverages. Perform principal component analysis (PCA) and multivariate statistics to identify relationships between demographic factors and product acceptance and integrate findings as feedback for beverage formulation. Prepare scientific manuscripts, technical reports, and progress updates for funding agencies, journals, and stakeholders. Present findings at project meetings, industry engagements, and academic conferences. Supervise and mentor junior researchers, research assistants, and students attached to the project. The role We are looking for a full-time researcher for a fixed term contract running until 31st March 2027. This post is for an embedded researcher who will be based at the University of Surrey (Environmental Psychology Research Group) and will work with, and for, the Surrey County Council (SCC) Safer Travel Team and the Surrey HDRC2 Team (Health Determinants Research Collaboration). The post’s focus will centre on a programme of work (please see accompanying details) consisting of separate projects that together share the aim of increasing Active Travel To School (ATTS1) amongst Surrey’s schools. The programme of work will commence with supporting Phase Two of the “Understanding Effectiveness & Encouraging Excellence in School Travel Planning” project, following the successful completion of Phase One. The programme of work will continue with the completion of a four-year longitudinal study that identifies school travel behaviours and their underlying motivations – the “SCC Annual School Travel Survey”. Other work includes further piloting of the STEP Tool (School Travel Effectiveness of Planning) developed in Phase One, the dissemination of findings from the SCC Annual School Travel Survey, and an exploratory audit of data collection across Surrey’s schools that employ “Hands Up Surveys” as a means of measuring changes in school travel. About you You must have a degree (MSc/PhD) and experience/interest in research focusing on understanding and changing behaviour. Experience in working in an applied research settings is highly desirable. Good communication and organisation skills are key, alongside adaptable project management skills. Skills and experience of working with quantitative survey data is important, and knowledge of qualitative methods an advantage. You will be working with the SCC teams at Surrey to support the analysis of existing data, to develop and project manage additional research, to analyse new data, and to report and present findings to a wide audience. This work has already been presented at a national convention in 2025 and the ambition is to further disseminate findings via future conference and publication activity. You will be based at the EPRG at Surrey but will work closely with SCC teams. You will be working on the various project activities for a period running to 31st March 2027 (full time).
