About the role - Mō tēnei tūranga mahi The School of Agriculture and Environment, Massey University, is seeking applications for the position of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in environmental management in the environmental science group, based on the Manawatū campus in Palmerston North. The purpose of this position is to contribute to enhancing the learning and qualification outcomes of Massey University’s students in environmental science and environmental management and the associated scholarly programme of teaching, research and publication, undertaking postgraduate research supervision, and providing administrative and professional service to the university and the broader academic, professional and general communities. This is a full-time, permanent position. About you - Mōu A PhD in environmental science, environmental management, environmental sustainability or a related relevant field such as natural resource management or land management is essential. The successful applicant will require the following experience for this role: Experience teaching university students or supporting academic staff to deliver teaching to university students Experience using electronic and online technologies in blended and distance teaching delivery Knowledge of policy frameworks and policy approaches relevant to environmental management and policy guidelines that support environmental monitoring in New Zealand Experience undertaking environmental monitoring, with a preference for monitoring vegetation and change, but which may include the practical application of other monitoring tools relevant to understanding land, water and the atmosphere A working understanding of different world views and perspectives related to environmental management, for example Māori perspectives and or indigenous natural resource management Experience using one or more environmental management tools Experience writing and securing research grants and contracts What’s in it for you? - Ko ngā hua o te tūranga? As a Senior Postgraduate Research Officer, you will provide essential administrative support to postgraduate researchers as they progress through their PhD studies, helping to ensure the effective management and delivery of research degree programmes. The position is wide-ranging, involving responsibility for various administrative processes across the student journey – from pre-enrolment and induction through registration, progression, and graduation. Key Responsibilities Participate in the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake one of the three responsibilities: Develop an interactive metaverse application for online education, team collaboration, and workplace training with a focus on real-time interactive simulation. (app developer) Design, build, and implement a multiplayer architecture and backend services for a real-time AR/VR multiplayer system.
