Responsibilities and Duties We are looking for future colleagues in all fields of computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, biocomputation, numeral networks, generative artificial intelligence, or mathematical modelling who can: Conduct high-quality research, evidenced by publications in world-leading journals, and attract industry and government research funding by offering significant research impact. Deliver high-quality teaching to undergraduate and graduate students, as evidenced, for example, by peers, students and external examiners. Work collaboratively across the campus and the wider university to ensure an inclusive, enriching and enabling entrepreneurial learning experience. Work collaboratively with the Dean of School in designing and implementing the School’s Research, Enterprise, and Industrial Development strategies. Work with relevant colleagues and departments to identify opportunities for successfully exploration research opportunities. Create and support a healthy industry-enhanced research environment, with agreed annual research outcomes and expectations, emphasizing impact and industry-funded quality research and innovation. Identify and implement strategies to maximise grant capture and research income from external funding bodies and business/industry. Supervise PhD students and mentor Early Career Researchers in PhD supervision. Generate and manage major research grant applications to support innovative industry-focused cross-disciplinary research and become an ambassador for the School to promote interdisciplinary research and teaching activities. Essential Qualifications/Experience Successful applicants to the position of Professor are expected to have: A PhD in artificial intelligence, data science, computer science, or other relevant disciplines from a world-renowned university. Ideally, hold a PgCert HE or equivalent. Outstanding research leadership and management experience and the ability to motivate and inspire teams with good people skills. A national/international reputation with demonstrable impact in any research and innovation fields relevant to the School. Evidence of successful research partnerships with academic institutions and external organisations. Evidence of good, sustained, and successful leadership of research grants and consultancy contracts and conducting high-quality research, evidenced by clear impact of output and publications in leading journals. Demonstrable experience in cooperating with industrial partners to develop R&D projects. A rich experience in teaching, research, academic leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship, strategic planning and financial management in a university and business environment. First-class networking skills and an ability to build and nurture external contacts and partnerships, working with businesses and other organisations in the area of innovation and business support to benefit the School. Description We are seeking Post-Doctoral Associates who are passionate about Data Science, with an emphasis in Computational Social Science, with a starting date of September 1, 2026. Some of the possible research topics include: (i) social media analysis, (ii) collaboration and teamwork, (iii) gender inequality, (iv) diversity, (v) online controlled experiments, and (vi) network science. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and hard-working with a PhD in Data Science, Computational Social Science, Computer Science, or Information Science. The position requires experience with at least one of the following: Data Science, Machine Learning, Computational Social Science, Big Data. Relevant skills could include statistical analysis, data management and collection, causal inference, network analysis, graph theory, visualizations, and online tool development. Experience in conducting online controlled experiments is also desired, but not required. Excellent communication skills in English, ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, and scientific creativity are essential. Selected candidates will spend half their time on collaborative research with Bedoor AlShebli, an Assistant Professor in Computational Social Science in the Social Science Division at NYUAD, and half their time on independent research. The selected candidate will receive an appointment for three years. Description The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seek to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on a fascinating project focused on the geomechanical modeling for energy applications. The position will be directly supervised by Professor Mostafa Mobasher and will involve strong collaboration with the SHORES multidisciplinary research teams. The project will be focused on advanced modeling of coupled fracture/damage of geomechanical materials when subjected a range of multiphysical loading regimes including hydraulic, thermal, and chemical processes. The direct applications of these research will be aimed at enhanced modeling of hydraulic fracturing and carbon sequestration. The project activities will involve the development of the theory and implementation of the advanced mechanics and numerical models as well as constitutive model calibration and validation based on physical experimental data. Required Qualifications: A successful applicant must have a PhD in Engineering Mechanics, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Applicants are expected to demonstrate research experience in the fields of computational mechanics and computational geomechanics.
