Georgetown University, a private university in Washington DC, is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit higher education institution in the US.

Its alumni include two former US presidents: Bill Clinton and Lyndon Johnson; as well as several other heads of state, including King Felipe VI of Spain.

Having been founded in 1789 by John Carroll, the US’ first bishop and archbishop, on a hilltop overlooking the Potomac River, Georgetown awarded its first bachelor’s degrees in 1817.

The American Civil War nearly forced the closure of the university, with the student body dropping from 313 to 17 between 1859 and 1861, but it was in the aftermath of the conflict that Georgetown became the institution that is known today.

Patrick Healy, the university’s president between 1873 and 1882 and the first African American to earn a PhD, reshaped the institution’s curriculum to place a focus on history and the natural sciences, and started the construction of Healy Hall, the flagship Flemish Romanesque building at the heart of the campus.

Nowadays the university is divided into nine undergraduate and graduate schools, including Georgetown College, which offers a liberal arts programme, and the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, which has educated heads of state and politicians from around the world.

With more than 7,000 undergraduate and about 10,000 postgraduate students, about 11 per cent of Georgetown’s students are from overseas, being drawn from about 130 countries.

Although it has always been independent of the Catholic Church, Georgetown’s Jesuit heritage continues to be influential, with education at the university emphasising service to others, particularly the vulnerable and disadvantaged.

Georgetown also runs a school of foreign service in Doha, Qatar, and offers study abroad opportunities at villas around the Mediterranean.

Alumni and sports teams of Georgetown are known as Hoyas. Prominent Hoyas include US defence secretary Robert Gates and his predecessor Donald Rumsfeld; José Manuel Barroso, the former president of the European Commission; and King Abdullah II of Jordan. Actor Bradley Cooper is another Georgetown alumnus.

About us: This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and organised waste and resource professional to support Estates & Facilities (E&F) in delivering efficient, compliant, and sustainable waste practices. About the role:  The Waste & Resource Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the effective management of waste and resources across King’s College London, including research and other hazardous or specialist waste streams. Sitting within the Sustainability Team in Estates & Facilities, this position is central to ensuring that King’s meets its legal obligations and ISO 14001 requirements while driving continual improvement in waste and resource practices. Reporting to the Sustainability Operations Manager, the postholder acts as the first point of contact for waste-related queries and provides operational advice to stakeholders across all campuses. You will maintain oversight of the waste budget, including forecasting, invoice validation, and reporting, ensuring cost-effective and transparent management of waste services. The role also involves maintaining accurate data inputs into a central Power BI system and interpreting complex datasets to inform decision-making and performance monitoring. Engagement and communication are key aspects of this role. You will attend regular user group and waste review meetings, deliver training tailored to different audiences, and collaborate on campaigns that promote best practice and behavioural change. The Waste & Resource Coordinator also represents King’s in sector networks, strengthening our profile and learning from industry developments. Compliance is a critical responsibility. You will monitor legislative updates, ensure complete and accurate record-keeping of evidentiary documentation, and lead internal audits and Duty of Care visits to verify compliance and identify opportunities for improvement. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Cloud & DevOps Technologies: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. Extensive industry experience and knowledge to provide valuable industry perspectives in an academic setting. Description NYU Abu Dhabi is currently inviting applications for a full-time contract faculty position in the Interactive Media program to begin potentially as early as Fall 2026. The position is a renewable appointment based on curricular demand and performance. The Interactive Media program is a Bachelor of Arts major at NYUAD that combines art, interaction design, communications, computer science, engineering, and critique. While the program is formally housed in the University’s Arts and Humanities Division, it is a multidisciplinary major and has broad reach across the University. The mission of the program is to foster the creative use of emerging technologies for research, communication, and expression, while advancing a deep engagement with theoretical frameworks and critical discourse in Interactive Media. The program emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach that connects artistic practice with intellectual inquiry and social responsibility.  Professors of Practice have professional, industry, or public sector experience and bring those qualifications to bear in their teaching. Appointees must be experienced or highly knowledgeable in their particular fields and, where relevant, have had experience in curriculum development. They are principally engaged in teaching and are also expected to remain active in professional, research or creative activities. We are looking for a faculty member who: Possesses an understanding of the aesthetic, cultural, social, political, critical, and ethical implications of interactive media and emerging technologies, and fosters an awareness of how these technologies shape and are shaped by societal contexts through historic and contemporary perspectives. Can engage students in developing a conceptual foundation for interactive media, integrating critical texts, reflective analysis, and creative practices that combine theoretical understanding with hands-on experimentation.
