The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy was formally opened in 1981 to enable young officers to gain higher academic qualifications.

In 1988 the institution was elevated to university status, and now has nine academic faculties offering over 34 undergraduate and postgraduate degrees: defence and strategic studies; medicine; engineering; law; management, social sciences and humanities; allied health sciences; built environment and spatial sciences; and computing.

Students of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University have access to a range of sports and recreational facilities. Clubs include rotaract, national rover crew, toastmasters, eco club and music clubs. In addition, students are encouraged to undertake industrial visits, industry interaction and regularly scheduled guest speakers.

Officer cadets at the university undergo military training alongside their academic studies. Their time at KDU includes weapon training and live firing, knowledge enrichment, team research and outdoor activities.

About the role The purpose of the role is to deliver a full award management function, including reports on work in progress and project monitoring as required and will report progress to Senior Research Grants Administrator and Research Grants Manager. The role holder will maintain detailed knowledge of funder terms and conditions as well as internal financial procedures and regulations, and will apply these consistently, particularly with regard to financial returns. About the Role The Senior Health Technology Analyst leads high-quality evaluations of medical devices, including digital and AI-enabled technologies, to support LIHE’s mission of accelerating safe, effective and responsible MedTech innovation. The role reports to the Head of Clinical Translation and Governance and works within a multidisciplinary team that includes specialists in regulatory affairs, clinical trials, quality, and clinical governance, to provide analytical leadership for LIHE’s MedTech programmes, including the MedTech Venture Builder (MVB), King’s MedTech Accelerator (KMA), and MedTech Venture Kickstarter (MVK). The role combines expertise in health technology assessment (HTA), evidence generation, real-world evaluation, and AI/Software as a Medical Device (AI/SaMD) appraisal. The post holder will work with innovators (from academics to SMEs), clinicians, and NHS partners to assess value propositions, evidence needs, risks, and adoption pathways. They will also support programme design, contribute to thematic areas (digital health, surgery, AIaMD), and help generate insight that strengthens LIHE’s strategic positioning as a national MedTech hub. This is a senior technical and strategic role requiring autonomy, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to translate analytical findings into strategic recommendations for innovators, LIHE leadership, and external partners. This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 30/06/2027. About You To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria Undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering, health sciences, medical physics, applied data science, health economics, or a related field. Postgraduate qualification (MSc/PhD) in a relevant discipline. Significant experience in health technology assessment or evaluation of medical devices (including digital/AI technologies). Proven ability to analyse complex clinical and technical evidence, including real-world data and literature. Understanding of regulatory and standards frameworks for medical devices, including SaMD/AIaMD. Experience working with clinicians or within healthcare pathways to inform evidence generation. Excellent communication skills, including writing clear evidence reports for technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple concurrent projects. Desirable criteria Evidence of experimental protocol design for real-world evaluation of healthcare technologies. Experience with AI/ML model evaluation, bias assessment or dataset quality appraisal. Familiarity with NHS innovation pathways and UK healthcare system dynamics. Experience in programme delivery, innovation support, or working with early-stage MedTech companies. Skills in advanced literature searching, meta-analysis, or statistical appraisal. Based at the Highfield Campus, the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS) is a regional service providing auditory implants for deaf children and adults, teaching and research. About the role: You will be working across several research projects, providing effective and efficient administrative support to the clinical trials and the wider research function within USAIS. You will assist in the co-ordination and delivery of clinical research studies and within the scope of competence undertake a range of tasks as detailed in the study protocols with support of clinical professionals.
