Fudan University in Shanghai, China, was founded in 1905 and originally named the Fudan Public School. It was granted the status of a private university in 1917.

Today, Fudan has a 30,000-strong student population with international students comprising around 15% of all undergraduates.

The university offers 70 undergraduate degree programmes across the arts, humanities and sciences, and prides itself on having an international outlook. A number of its courses are taught in English and the institution boasts global connections and exchange programmes with almost 200 overseas universities. Study abroad schemes are encouraged at Fudan, with 40% of undergraduates electing to embark in international exchange.

The university takes a liberal arts approach to education, with an ethos based on the belief that academic study is most effective when combined with individual development of character, an understanding of different cultures and a teaching of independent research methods. To meet these ends, Fudan adopts an innovative teaching approach combining ideology and culture in lectures and conferences – many of which are broadcast publicly on the internet.

A strong emphasis is also placed on practical training, and the university has a number of initiatives in place to assist students with their own projects, including the university’s undergraduate academic research financial aid platform which assists 500 students each year with funding their own independent academic research. Fudan's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (FDUROP) also gives students the facilities to showcase their ideas.

Outside the classroom, there are over 300 clubs and organisations for students to get involved in. With more than 2,000 club events taking place each month at Fudan, it is little wonder that students regularly refer to the ‘hundred club battle’ when planning their extra-curricular activities.

Job Description FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES ACADEMY OF CHINESE, HISTORY, RELIGION AND PHILOSOPHY Lecturer I / Lecturer II in General Education and BA/MA Programmes (25260535) The Faculty invite applications for up to two Lecturer I/II posts to teach in the University-wide General Education (GE) curriculum and contribute to BA/MA programmes in Digital Futures & Humanities, History, Religion, Philosophy & Ethics, and Ethics & Public Affairs. Research Fellow: Mapping current funding in young people’s cancer research against the Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Priority Setting Partnership priorities The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research. The role Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position to work part-time on on a project funded by The Children and Young People’s Cancer Association (CCLG): Mapping current funding in young people’s cancer research against the Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Priority Setting Partnership priorities. The successful post holder will be based in the School of Health Sciences, working with Susie Aldiss and Professor Faith Gibson. The James Lind Alliance Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) research priorities were published in 2018 (final report available from: https://www.jla.nihr.ac.uk/priority-setting-partnerships/teenage-and-young-adult-cancer. The aim of this PSP was to identify the research questions that need to be answered about teenage and young adult cancer, according to young people, survivors, families/carers and professionals. Our focus in this current project is on the Top 30 priorities from this PSP (https://www.jla.nihr.ac.uk/priority-setting-partnerships/teenage-and-young-adult-cancer#tab-the-top-10-priorities).  In this project, we will undertake an information gathering exercise to establish which of the 30 priorities are currently priorities for funding and/or being funded. This will involve liaising with funders of cancer research in the UK to collect their funding strategies and information on projects funded in the past five years. This will help funders to see where the gaps in funding are, avoid duplication and enable possible collaborations to ensure that all the priorities receive attention as these are the areas of research that young people, survivors, families/carers and professionals have identified as important. About you We are looking for a researcher with excellent project management and research skills, together with excellent verbal and written communication skills, who can work independently, but also work well within a team environment. The successful candidate will be required to coordinate and undertake activities including: liaising with research funders, leading on data collection and data management, analysis of data involving matching funding strategies and funded studies to the Top 30 priorities, dissemination of findings including report writing, preparing a journal publication and feedback to funders.
