The Florida Institute of Technology is a private non profit, doctoral/research university located in Melbourne, Florida. The university was founded in 1958, initially called the Brevard Engineering College, and was renamed the Florida Institute of Technology in 1966. The university was founded in the same year that NASA got its start. There are seven main academic divisions focused on science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and aviation. Students from more than 100 countries worldwide attend Florida Tech. Each year the university holds the International Festival as a celebration of cultural diversity and the international community among the students. International student societies showcase their cultures, food and traditional dress to the rest of the student body. The university has 132 active student organisations on campus. This includes university-sponsored students' organisations such as the student government association, campus activities board, the homecoming committee and The Crimson, which is the award-winning student-run newspaper. Other organisations include the anime club, amateur radio club, the dance association and the film society. There are also a lot of sports clubs that students can join such as flag football, ultimate frisbee, martial arts, ice hockey and Collegiate wrestling and baseball. The mascot of the university is a panther. The institute has six on-campus residential halls, as well as apartment-style housing options located near the campus. There is also a student book shop, career management services, counselling and psychological services, disability services and a health centre on campus. There is also plenty of varied on-campus facilities where students can spend their spare time such as the Botanical Garden and the official site of the Florida Tech jet dragster racing team.

The post holder will work as a key member of the Northern Ireland Clinical Research Facility (NICRF) team to support, coordinate and deliver high-quality clinical research, with a focus on Ophthalmology and Vision Science studies. The role involves coordinating and contributing to a portfolio of clinical trials and research studies on a day-to-day basis, working both independently and under appropriate supervision as required. The post holder will undertake agreed responsibilities within study delivery, which may include participant screening and recruitment, informed consent, clinical assessments, patient care, study management and follow-up, in accordance with study protocols and local and national regulatory, research and professional guidelines, policies and standard operating procedures. Through this role, the post holder will support the growth of the NICRF clinical trial portfolio and contribute to excellence in clinical trial delivery. The post will initially be based within the Northern Ireland Clinical Research Facility (NICRF) and will relocate to the iREACH Health building at Belfast City Hospital on its opening. About the person: The successful applicant must demonstrate the following essential criteria: Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area e.g. Optometry. Registered Optometrist (GOC Registered and appropriate professional indemnity cover). Or eligibility to be registered to fulfil the requirements of the post. Relevant experience in Optometry, post registration. Sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline of research methods and techniques to work within own area. Experience taking retinal images using either fundus photography or Optical Coherence Tomography. Relevant computing skills including Microsoft Office. Doctoral Researcher in Geological Hydrogen Reservoirs – HydRes Project The University of Helsinki, Department of Geosciences and Geography, invites applications for a Doctoral Researcher position in the HydRes project, “Finding H₂ – Geological hydrogen reservoirs for sustainable energy production in Finland”, funded by the Research Council of Finland. The position will start in April 2026, or as agreed, and continue until the end of December 2029. Position description The HydRes project is a multidisciplinary collaboration between the University of Helsinki and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, aiming to advance the understanding and sustainable utilization of geological hydrogen reservoirs in crystalline bedrock. Hydrogen is a key enabler of the green transition, and geological hydrogen has the potential to provide a renewable, emission-free energy source for sectors that are challenging to electrify. HydRes will address questions related to the formation, exploration, renewability, and exploitation of geological hydrogen reservoirs, combining geochemistry, microbiology, isotope analysis, and modelling. The doctoral researcher will focus on the geological hydrogen aspects of the project by integrating microbiological and geochemical data to develop diagnostic tools for assessing hydrogen potential and sustainability of geological hydrogen production. The position offers a unique opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team, develop expertise in isotope geochemistry, hydrogeochemistry, and geomicrobiology, and contribute to the emerging topic of the role of geological hydrogen in the hydrogen economy. The doctoral researcher will join the Sustainable Earth Resources Research Group at the Department of Geosciences and Geography, University of Helsinki, and benefit from state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, and collaborations with leading national and international experts. The position includes participation in field sampling campaigns at deep drill hole sites, as well as research visits and opportunities for professional development and networking. Requirements MSc degree (or equivalent) in geology, geochemistry, environmental sciences, microbiology, or a related field by the first day of employment. Strong interest in isotope geochemistry, hydrogeochemistry and/or geomicrobiology. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled and experienced Food Product Developer to join our research team under the DIGNIFIED programme. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food science, product development, and research methodologies. This role involves working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop new food products, improve existing ones, and ensure they meet the programme’s mission.  Key responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Conduct research and development activities to create innovative food products that align with the DIGNIFIED programme's goals. Mentor and guide junior research engineers in industry projects Develop prototypes and formulations for new/existing food products, ensuring they meet nutritional, sensory, and safety standards. Plan and conduct product scale up trials and shelf-life studies Source and evaluate new ingredients and suppliers Stay updated with the latest advancements in food science and technology and apply this knowledge to the development process. A Masters/Ph.D. in food science and food technology would be advantageous At least 3-5 years of proven experience in food product development and research, preferably within a similar programme or industry. Strong knowledge of food chemistry, microbiology, and sensory evaluation techniques. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Strong understanding of ingredient functionality and food processing. Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software for data analysis. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly. Passion for food product innovation and improving elderly nutrition. Bonus: Culinary skills and experience in product renovation and innovation.
