Description

The Division of Science at NYU Abu Dhabi is searching for accomplished visiting faculty in Computer Science to educate the next generation of global leaders.  Multidisciplinary research and exceptional teaching in a highly diverse and inclusive campus community are hallmarks of the University’s mission.

Applicants should have a relevant PhD and demonstrate an outstanding track record for their career stage in both research and teaching. The visiting position is for one academic year, and the expected teaching load is four courses with relatively small class sizes.

Successful candidates may receive some research funding for conference travel and/or minor equipment, and may also have access to internal competitive funds. Additional research support includes access to high-performance computing facilities.

There are many collaboration opportunities within NYUAD, which already houses a number of interdisciplinary research centers, including the Center for Cyber Security, the Center for Interacting Urban Networks (CITIES), Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), Center for Genomics and Systems Biology, Center for Quantum and Topological Systems, as well as with faculty in NYU New York’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Tandon School of Engineering.

The mission of the Centre for English and Additional Languages (CEAL) at Lingnan University is to enhance the English language skills of Lingnan students and to provide language support to help students succeed in their academic studies and future careers.  The Centre provides compulsory and elective English courses as well as organising a range of co-curricular language activities. CEAL also offers courses in additional languages such as Korean, Japanese, Spanish, and French.

General Requirements

Lingnan University is looking for a well-qualified language specialist to head the CEAL. Applicants for the position should demonstrate excellence in teaching as well as having a proven record of curriculum/course development, delivery and assessment. Extensive management experience in a university English language centre or similar environment is desirable. S/he will have a PhD in English language (preferably Applied Linguistics) or a related area, a minimum of five years’ administrative experience, ten years of teaching experience in university English, and a track record of research and publication in language learning and teaching. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor of Teaching.

The conditions of appointment will be competitive.  Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Groundsperson to join the University of Surrey, to work as part of the award-winning team responsible for the horticultural maintenance and landscaping of the University Estate.

Providing a high quality, efficient, cost effective service for the University, the post holder plays an important role in contributing towards a positive student and staff experience, through providing an attractive, safe and welcoming landscaped estate in which to work study and live.

Key Responsibilities

This role covers a wide range of horticultural and other estate management tasks. After the relevant training you will be expected to operate a wide range of landscaping equipment & machinery in order to provide high-quality, cost-effective maintenance on the University of Surrey’s estate.

Other responsibilities include:


	General horticultural maintenance operations in the Grounds and associated areas throughout the University Estate including litter picking and clearing of snow or ice.
	Routine driving, operation and maintenance of horticultural and other Grounds maintenance machinery including those hired by the University, and basic tractor powered equipment, excluding larger equipment powered by tractor.
	Assisting with the preparation of soil and areas associated with the establishing of hard and soft landscaping around new buildings, including the installation or provision of new sports facilities
	Ensuring work is carried out in strict compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH and any other relevant legislation covering safety in the workplace.


Experience of horticulture, sports grounds maintenance and relevant NVQ or equivalent qualifications are an advantage, but not essential. Full training will be provided. Candidates will need to be physically fit and hold a valid UK driving licence for this role.

Your new role

We're seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our Language Testing & Customer Service Team as the Part Time Language Testing & Customer Service Coordinator for three days per week: Monday, Thursday and Friday.

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager - Language Testing, you'll play an active role in the development, implementation and coordination of administrative processes and procedures associated with the delivery of the IELTS and PTE Academic tests and associated products.

The role also assists the Senior Operations Manager, Language Testing (SOM) in leading a pool of casual test invigilators and support staff.

Your roles and responsibilities will include (but aren't limited to):


	Oversee the rostering and coordination of staff to maintain the continuous operations of the Language Testing Centre in partnership with the SOM, ensuring team functions are adequately staffed at all times.
	Assist in coordinating daily activities of the team, including identifying training/professional development needs to ensure ongoing skill development and up-to-date knowledge of products, processes and databases
	Assist with the coordination of pre, test-day and post-test administration and reporting activities, in accordance with the regulations and frameworks set out by the IELTS and PTE Academic test partners
	Monitor and respond to ongoing achievement of KPIs, including service levels and income targets
	Collaborate with the Senior Operations Manager - Language Testing to grow the profile and sales of RMIT UP testing products
	Coordinate team activities to ensure accurate data collection, test day administration and reporting
	Coordinate customer service activities to ensure timely and accurate administration of payments, refunds, results and other relevant administration tasks as required
	Comply with policies, procedures and test delivery frameworks as defined by Pearson VUE, Cambridge ESOL, IELTS Australia and RMIT UP
	Ensure team delivers a comprehensive and high-quality response to all forms of internal and external RMIT UP and Language Testing contact (email, online form submissions, telephone, in person)


About You

To be successful in this position you will have:


	Previous experience in a Coordinator/Supervisor level role, including familiarity with rostering, supervision and motivation of staff
	Highly client service focused, with proven experience in customer service roles within professional services/commercial environments, preferably within the education sector
	Experience, knowledge and understanding of PTE Academic and/or IELTS Test procedures and delivery is highly advantageous
	Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish productive working relationships with internal and external clients from a variety of cultural backgrounds and organisational levels
	Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills
	Proficiency in MS Office and use of databases, computer applications and payment gateways
	Demonstrated effective and efficient administration, data entry and numerical skills, including high attention to detail

The employment duration is 3 years.
