Ref.: 536299 Work type: Full-time Department: School of Public Health (22400) Categories: Professoriate Staff Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-track Professor/ Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor in Non-communicable Diseases (several posts), School of Public Health (Ref.: 536299), to commence as soon as possible on a three-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of renewal, and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract, subject to satisfactory performance. Exceptionally outstanding candidates may be considered for appointment on tenure terms. Applicants should possess (i) a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or a related discipline; (ii) prior research experience in non-communicable disease epidemiology; (iii) a strong track record of high-quality research as indicated by publication record and external grants; (iv) evidence of international recognition with a demonstrated ability to work across discipline towards new research initiatives; and (v) a strong commitment to teaching students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The appointees are expected to conduct independent and collaborative scholarly research, publish research articles in high-impact journals, and attract competitive grants to maintain active research programmes; take part in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and supervise research postgraduate students; and perform administrative duties. The appointment rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The School of Public Health is committed to protecting and enhancing health for all people, through the synthesis of state-of-the-science research, the dissemination of knowledge through education and training and effective evidence-based public health advocacy. The concentration focus of the project is on implementation of compliance solutions for the industry, in consultation with stakeholders. The maritime industry makes a significant contribution to the Irish economy and as an island nation Ireland is quite dependent on this sector. Moving to ‘cleaner’ energy sources is challenging and involves the perspectives of different stakeholders including but not limited to ports, shipping companies, policy makers and technology providers. A particular issue of interest is in the role of digital-based solutions for green port initiatives, to achieve this objective. We are seeking an exceptional Research Assistant to join the project. The successful candidate will work as part of our Maritime Transport team in the Maynooth University School of Business, conducting research, carrying out administrative duties, and contributing to the department’s seminars and meetings. They will also help to seek additional sources of funding to ensure the longevity and sustainability of the project. This role is hands-on and interdisciplinary, requiring strong analytical, computational, and practical coding skills. The Research Assistant will play a key role in translating theoretical models into working software and supporting the continuous decarbonisation of the Irish Maritime Industry.
