The Role and Department The Role You will work closely with PI Michael Magee to deliver research objectives of the grant proposal CONUREP. This will include research discussions, research, dissemination of research (writing, seminar talks), and active participation within the research group of the PI. The appointee will be expected to perform all the research duties commensurate with the expectations of professional research mathematician, without the responsibilities of teaching. Key responsibilities: To understand and convey material of a specialist or highly technical nature to the team or group of people through presentations and discussions that leads to the presentation of research papers in conferences and publications.To prepare and deliver presentations on research outputs/activities to audiences which may include: research sponsors, academic and non-academic audiences.To publish high quality outputs, including papers for submission to peer reviewed journals and papers for presentation at conferences and workshops under the direction of the Principal Investigator or Grant-holder.To assist with the development of research objectives and proposals.To conduct individual and collaborative research projects under the direction of the Principal Investigator or Grant-holder.To work with the Principal Investigator or Grant-holder and other colleagues in the research group, as appropriate, to identify areas for research, develop new research methods and extend the research portfolio.To deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines by discussing with the Principal Investigator or Grant-holder and offering creative or innovative solutions.To liaise with research colleagues and make internal and external contacts to develop knowledge and understanding to form relationships for future research collaboration.To plan and manage own research activity, research resources in collaboration with others and contribute to the planning of research projects.To deliver training in research techniques/approaches to peers, visitors and students as appropriate.To be involved in student supervision, as appropriate, and assist with the assessment of the knowledge of students.To contribute to fostering a collegial and respectful working environment which is inclusive and welcoming and where everyone is treated fairly with dignity and respect.To engage in wider citizenship to support the department and wider discipline.To engage in continuing professional development by participation in the undergraduate or postgraduate teaching programmes or by membership of departmental committees, etc. and by attending relevant training and development courses.[Any other specific responsibilities]. The appointment is provisionally for 36 months beginning 1st October 2026. The post-holder is employed to work on research/a research project which will be led by another colleague. Whilst this means that the post-holder will not be carrying out independent research in his/her own right, the expectation is that they will contribute to the advancement of the project, through the development of their own research ideas/adaptation and development of research protocols. Job Description SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION CONTINUING AND PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION DIVISION (CPED) The School of Continuing Education, one of the seven Faculties/Schools of the University and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong, offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults. It also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands. Operated on a self-financed basis, the School and its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 550 part-time instructors. The School invites applications for the following positions in the Continuing and Professional Education Division: Lecturer I / Lecturer II / Assistant Lecturer (Accounting) (25260775) Applicants should possess relevant teaching and/or professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Financial Accounting Management Accounting Financial Management Economics Statistics The appointee is required to (i) perform teaching duties in related disciplines; (ii) provide academic guidance to students; (iii) develop, coordinate curriculum and manage programmes; (iv) supervise projects; (v) coordinate with the part-time teaching staff; (vi) assist administrative work for the responsible programmes/courses such as admission interview, handling students’ enquiries and organising student activities. Requirements: Applicants should possess a higher degree, preferably at the doctoral level, in the relevant discipline, along with teaching experience. A master's degree may also be considered. Candidates must demonstrate dedication and commitment to teaching and education; meanwhile, research competence is a factor to be considered. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential. Candidates with less experience will be considered for the post of Lecturer II or Assistant Lecturer. Reference salary range:  Lecturer I: HK$51,000 - HK$86,000 Lecturer II: HK$38,000 - HK$53,000 Assistant Lecturer: HK$30,000 - HK$39,000 The appointee will mainly work at the Shek Mun (Shatin) campus. The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract ending in August 2027. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding. Research Fellows in Marine Biogeochemistry

We are seeking to recruit 2 Research Fellows in Marine Biogeochemistry to undertake research into the processes controlling biological productivity and trace element supply in the Southern Ocean. Based within the School of Ocean and Earth Science (SOES) of the University of Southampton and located at the National Oceanography Southampton (NOCS), the role will focus on the analysis of samples and observational and experimental data from the Southern Ocean within the NERC funded ‘Iron and Manganese Impacts on the Future of Southern Ocean Ecosystems (Iron-Man)’ project.  Applicants should have a PhD* or equivalent in biological oceanography / marine biogeochemistry (or a related field). You would be expected to undertake sample and data analyses originating from the recent research expedition associated with the project and disseminate key aspects of the research project related to phytoplankton ecophysiology, trace element supply and biogeochemical cycling. Knowledge or experience of at sea observational and/or experimental work, or data analysis thereof, related to phytoplankton/microbial ecology/physiology and trace elements would be advantageous. Strong quantitative and communication skills, and the ability to conduct innovative research resulting in publications in international refereed journals are essential. The successful applicants will be provided with a supportive and rewarding environment for further development of their knowledge, skills and experience, including through working as part of a large interdisciplinary oceanographic team comprised of sea-going phytoplankton and zooplankton ecologists, nutrient and trace metal biogeochemists and experts in ocean modelling. Under the guidance and support of the project (co-)PIs you will be encouraged to explore your own research interests, within the broader constraints of the overall project objectives. You will join a team led by Profs. About the Role The Scientific Officer plays a key role in supporting the delivery of infectious disease point‑of‑care testing programs, with a strong focus on the National Australian Hepatitis C POCT Program. Working across a diverse range of health settings—including regional and remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Drug and Alcohol services, and Justice Health services—the role delivers training, quality management support, and hands‑on testing services. This position contributes to program logistics, scientific troubleshooting, data management and research coordination, ensuring high‑quality, accessible testing that supports improved health outcomes nationally. Delivering point-of-care operator training, competency assessment and quality‑assured POCT support to health workers across multiple service settings. Coordinating and supporting onsite high intensity testing campaigns, including capillary blood collection and HCV point‑of‑care testing in correctional services. Providing scientific and technical support for POCT devices, systems and software both remotely and onsite.
