Excelia is a French private institution of higher education founded in 1988. The historical campus of Excelia Group is located in La Rochelle, while its other two other campuses are located in Tours and Orleans. In addition to this, the institution also offers programmes in Niort, Roche Fort, Angouleme and Cognac. It has overseas associate campuses in New York and Beijing. Excelia offers undergraduate and graduate degrees through its Business School, Digital School Tourism School, and the Excelia Academy. The courses are taught in both English and French. The university also has the Centre of Research for Innovation and Intelligence in Management which conducts research in arenas like sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, tourism management, agility, innovation and digitalisation. Moreover, the university has also forged partnerships with more than 200 universities across the world to provide global exposure and opportunities to its students.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates with strong skills and relevant experience for a postdoctoral research fellowship on the EPSRC-funded EXPRESS Programme Grant, ’Exploiting Single Source Precursors for the Electrochemical Growth of Functional 1D and 2D Metal Dichalcogenide Semiconductors’. EXPRESS is a flagship, interdisciplinary 5-year research programme led jointly by the Universities of Southampton and Warwick, bringing together internationally leading teams from across chemistry, physics and electronic engineering.  The Programme aims to deliver a step-change in the understanding and control of electrochemical growth of functional TMDC semiconductors, combining precursor design and synthesis, electrochemistry, theory, advanced characterisation and device integration. In addition to the essential disciplinary research skills, candidates should demonstrate genuine enthusiasm for collaborative working, the ability to communicate effectively across disciplines, and well-developed organisational skills. This position is primarily concerned with the electrodeposition of transition metal dichalcogenides. The successful candidate will work within the electrochemistry team led by Phil Bartlett in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Southampton, and will be required to be flexible and interact effectively with colleagues across the wider EXPRESS consortium to fulfil the scientific goals of the Programme.  The position is offered for until 05/07/2028 in the first instance, with the possibility of extension for up to 3 further years. This position is situated within the SIT x NVIDIA AI Centre (SNAIC). This role is part of an industry innovation project with a large consumer goods company, where you will develop an evaluation framework for vision-language model (VLM) with applications in the personal care sector. The research focuses on fine-grained VLM capabilities such as spatial reasoning, temporal grounding, event tracking, and domain knowledge using a curated multimodal dataset. Key Responsibilities Manage the research project together with the Principal Investigator (PI) and industry partner to ensure all project deliverables are met Design and implement evaluation frameworks and metrics for vision-language models Develop annotated video datasets and capability-tagged evaluation tasks Build end-to-end evaluation pipelines and failure mode analysis tools to analyze VLM performance across reasoning dimensions Prepare technical reports, publications, and industry-facing deliverables Mentor student assistants Candidates are to communicate with any internal or external parties to ensure project deliverables are met.
