About Eszterházy Károly Catholic University

Eszterházy Károly Catholic University was founded in 1774 in Eger, Hungary then renamed after its founder in 1989. The university offers intensive research opportunities, talent management and education for future professionals.

The university is one of the oldest high education institutions in Hungary and has two campuses: Eger and Jászberény. The Eger campus is situated at the intersection of the Bükk Mountains and one of Hungary’ most popular tourist destinations. This campus offers a range of courses from an undergraduate to a postgraduate level.

There are a variety of educational programmes offered across five faculties from undergraduate to postgraduate and doctorate levels. The university offers education in the arts, sciences, pedagogy and humanities, as well as fields that meet new demands for expertise such as viticulture and oenology engineering, and visual representation. All courses are offered in English.

The Jászberény campus specialises in infant and early childhood education, pre-school teacher training, teacher training, special needs education training, community organisation and social pedagogy. There is a sports hall and indoor ice rink for students who are interested in sports.
