Description The Haven Lab, in the Division of Engineering and the Center for Cyber Security, New York University Abu Dhabi, invites applications for a Post-doctoral Associate position in security and privacy. The lab's mission is to provide individuals with control over their privacy and protection from digital threats. We want to work towards a future where digital services are inherently designed with user privacy and safety at the forefront. Current research thrusts involve: Large-scale measurements on the web to understand and characterize harmful online phenomena. Development of AI-based countermeasures for security and privacy, especially in on-device settings. Investigation of attacks/defenses on AI-based systems. Key Responsibilities: Contribute to driving and developing the lab's research directions and methodologies. Lead and collaborate on high-impact research projects in applied security and privacy. Mentor Ph.D./Master's/Bachelor’s students, providing guidance on research projects. Participate in developing coursework and organizing academic and community outreach events. Engage with academic and industry partners to advance the lab's research goals. Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, with a focus on security, privacy, or applied machine learning, and with less than 5 years post receipt of PhD. Demonstrated research experience in at least one of the lab’s research thrusts. Good programming and analytical skills, and willingness to work with new technologies/systems. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. Description The Mubadala Arabian Center for Climate and Environmental Sciences (Mubadala ACCESS) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications for a Junior Research Scientist to support a multidisciplinary research program investigating the environmental and ecological drivers of productive fishing grounds in the United Arab Emirates. Working alongside researchers from NYUAD and Emirates Nature–WWF, the successful candidate will contribute to marine habitat mapping, spatial analysis, and environmental data integration to support fisheries management and marine conservation. The Junior Research Scientist will support the acquisition, processing, and analysis of marine spatial and environmental datasets collected throughout the project. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will assist in developing habitat maps, managing spatial databases, integrating environmental monitoring data, and producing analytical outputs that inform conservation planning and fisheries management. The role combines office-based spatial analysis with opportunities to participate in field surveys, environmental monitoring, and marine habitat assessments across the UAE. The successful candidate will assist with processing GIS, bathymetric, habitat, and environmental datasets, maintaining project databases, and supporting the development of habitat maps and spatial products. Responsibilities include assisting with side-scan sonar and underwater imagery processing, data quality assurance, statistical analyses, and preparation of maps, figures, reports, and scientific publications. The Junior Research Scientist will also participate in field campaigns to collect environmental and spatial reference data and contribute to project reporting and stakeholder deliverables. Applicants must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Science, Geography, GIS, Oceanography, Environmental Science, Spatial Ecology, or a closely related discipline. Master’s degree and less than 5 years of research experience in the relevant field, or a Bachelor's degree with any level of experience. The ideal candidate will have experience using GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS, managing scientific datasets, and conducting quantitative analyses using software such as R or Python. Experience with marine habitat mapping, environmental monitoring data, side-scan sonar, or remote sensing is desirable. Candidates should possess strong analytical and organizational skills and be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
