Department of Biochemistry and Developmental biology in Faculty of Medicine at the University of Helsinki is seeking a part-time (50 %) FIXED-TERM UNIVERSITY LECTURER for the period 1 March 2026 to 28 February 2028. The field of the position is translational medicine, and the language of instruction is English. The position is teaching-oriented. Duties The university lecturer will plan, coordinate and implement teaching in the English-language Master’s Programme in Translational Medicine (TRANSMED). The university lecturer also supervises theses and doctoral dissertations in the field and pursues field-related independent research activities. According to the University of Helsinki’s regulations, the successful candidate must have a suitable doctoral degree and an ability to provide high-quality research-based teaching and to supervise theses. The degree requirement must be met by the end of the application period. The position requires experience in the planning and responsibility duties of teaching, university-level small group teaching and lecturing, and practical familiarity with the field (translational medicine). Selection criteria In the assessment of applicants’ merits, consideration will be given to teaching experience, experience in positions of responsibility in teaching as well as pedagogical training, teaching development projects, the ability to produce learning materials, other merits achieved in teaching as well as a teaching demonstration if necessary.
