East China University fo Technology was formed in 1956 as Taigu Geological School.
Run by a consortium of the Jiangxi State government, the China Atomic Agency Association, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the China National Nuclear Association.
It offers courses in nuclear and geological specialisms such as geological tourism, economics, chemistry and environmental sciences.
Its State Key Laboratory for Nuclear Research and Environment was launched in 2018 as the first in its field, while other labs include those devoted to Uranium Geology and Isotype Hydrology, and Overseas Uranium Resource Exploration.
Recently developed programmes include a joint master's and doctoral scheme in partnership with the International Atomic Energy Agency with between five and 10 full scholarships each year offered to outstanding students in nuclear-related science and technology.
There are around 100 overseas students, and English-language degrees are offered in chemical engineering and technology, international economics and trade, and software engineering. Two joint honours programme with Ireland’s Athlone Institute of Technology have led to sporting and cultural links, including Gaelic Football.
