Established in 1998, Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Technology is part of the Dr DY Patil Group of more than 150 educational institutions, founded by its namesake in 1983. The Institute of Technology is one of the oldest and best-known universities in the group, situated 15km from the Maharashtran city of Pune, roughly 130km from Mumbai.
The Institute educates more than 6,000 students. The university offers 18 undergraduate degrees across seven schools: architecture; design; engineering and technology; hospitality and tourism studies; law; management; and pharmacy. The Institute reports that 100 per cent of students receive internship offers, with organisations such as Amazon.in, Infosys and Hyundai.
The Institute’s campus is large, verdant and tree-filled. It includes a multi-sports stadium and sports café, as well as smart libraries, studios, labs and amphitheatres.
Male and female students are housed in separate hostels, which include a newly constructed building for more than 700 students. Two other buildings house 300 students each. These hostels provide a dining hall, a common room, medical facilities and a gym.
Campus clubs, run by students for students, cater to a range of interests. They include photography club, singing and dancing club, film and theatre club, and book-reading and storytelling club.
