Daffodil International University (DIU) has developed a dynamic and internationally connected research ecosystem focused on research excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, technology transfer, and societal impact. Centrally coordinated by its Division of Research, DIU's research agenda spans emerging technologies, health and life sciences, sustainability, engineering, business, social sciences, and other areas addressing regional and global challenges.

With more than 7,700 Scopus-indexed publications, DIU has established itself as one of Bangladesh's strongest research-performing private universities. Its research culture is supported by internal and external research grants, research-oriented academic policies, dedicated research infrastructure, and a growing network of specialized research centers, laboratories, and research facilities. Reflecting its growing research capacity, QS Rankings has recognized DIU as a “Very High Research Intensive University.” Through its expanding research portfolio, specialized research infrastructure, internal and external funding mechanisms, strong intellectual property and technology-transfer ecosystem, extensive international collaborations, and commitment to interdisciplinary and impact-oriented research, Daffodil International University is strengthening its position as a globally connected, research-intensive university contributing to knowledge creation, innovation, and sustainable development in Bangladesh and beyond.

DIU's research strengths encompass artificial intelligence and data science, machine learning, natural language processing, robotics, cybersecurity, embedded systems, multimedia and emerging technologies, engineering, public and global health, health informatics, biotechnology, environmental sustainability, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, coastal resilience, business and entrepreneurship, and social development. DIU’s good number of research centers and specialized laboratories provide platforms for advanced experimentation, applied research, innovation, knowledge exchange, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The university's Patent Development Division and Technology Transfer Office support researchers in protecting, developing, and commercializing intellectual property generated through research and innovation. DIU researchers have already secured a growing portfolio of patents for innovative technologies and solutions, strengthening the university's capacity to translate research outcomes into real-world applications and entrepreneurial opportunities.

International collaboration is another defining strength of DIU's research environment.
