We are seeking an enthusiastic anatomic pathologist to join a team of three faculty and one resident in our £11m purpose-built state-of-the-art Veterinary Pathology Centre. This on site role will enhance our 100 strong team of teaching and research staff in the University of Surrey School of Veterinary Medicine. The Veterinary Pathology Centre was built seven years ago and contains both a CL2 (containment level 2) post-mortem area with viewing gallery, and a CL3 post-mortem area. Private diagnostic post-mortems, and APHA (Animal Plant Health Agency) surveillance post-mortems are undertaken at the site.  The role The role will include undertaking diagnostic service, including biopsy and post-mortems, teaching final year (year 5) students on intramural rotations (IMR) post-mortem skills, and participating in lecturing, practical classes, and assessment of year 1-4 undergraduates. Supervision and participation in the residency programme is also expected, and you may be asked to provide CPD activities to external partners from time to time.  This is a permanent post subject to satisfactory performance and is based on site in Guildford. There would be opportunities for individuals to develop their career through research or other aspects as preferred. About you Successful candidates must have a veterinary degree that is registerable with the RCVS, have experience in surveillance and post-mortem services, and be interested in teaching and supervising students in the veterinary pathology aspects of our curriculum. To be successful in this role, you will have excellent communication skills, an appetite for innovative teaching, strong organisational skills and will enjoy working in a team. You will have an interest in broadening your veterinary profile through the development and delivery of undergraduate teaching in veterinary pathology and you will be supported in achieving this by participation in our inhouse, externally accredited Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. In addition to completing this qualification, for those interested in developing further skills in education, study at Masters level (part-time) may also be supported (financially and in time allocation). Program Assistant, Academics and Administration The Program Assistant (Academics and Administration), under the supervision of the Associate Director, provides administrative support for the Academic Administration of NYUS. The primary responsibility of the position is to provide broad support as part of a team whose mission is to ensure the effective delivery of a first-rate study abroad experience. The Assistant also ensures programmatic support consistent with the high standards that have established NYU as a global leader in international higher education. This is a full-time position based in Sydney, Australia. Approximate time allocations for each duty category are indicated below but may be adjusted as necessary. Operations and Communications (30%) ● Maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality ● Assist in updating faculty handbooks, and academic related webpages ● Assist with alumni relations related to NYUS course guest lectures ● Search for and assist with possible academic-related grant applications ● Prepare weekly faculty newsletter ● Attend Intercultural Learning Committee meetings and staff/faculty meetings ● Participate in special projects and after hours/weekend event support as needed Academics (70%) ● Create course schedule, manage classrooms and instructional supplies, organize regular meetings, circulate information, develop and enforce strategies related to academic procedures, and communicate academic announcements, revisions, and updates to all lecturers and students. ● Assist with new instructor onboarding and training in collaboration with Global Academics, manage course materials, ensure submission of grades, respond to academic engagement and student progress concerns, and assist instructors with NYU’s learning management system to support timely updates and communications to students. ● Assist lecturers with place-based learning opportunities such as field trips and guest speakers. ● Monitor USYD course availability each semester. ● Exercise judgement within defined guidelines and practices to provide general guidance and support to students to ensure appropriate academic advising, partnering with the Associate Director and appropriate authorities on escalated matters. ● Supervise exams and implement accommodations for students who have registered with NYU Moses Center for Student Accessibility. ● Support major NYU Sydney programs including, but not limited to, NYU local exchange info sessions and advertising, student orientation, short term programs, signature events, professional development, collaboration with the University of Sydney and community engagement opportunities. ● Other duties as assigned. Full time, 2 years fixed term, located on the Camperdown Campus at the School of Chemistry Opportunity to drive a high-impact research program on engineering carbon fixation in cyanobacteria Base Salary, Academic level A, $113,400- $116,916 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The School of Chemistry is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Cyanobacterial Synthetic Biology who will work with the research group of Associate Professor Yu Heng Lau on engineering carbon fixation to enhance the growth of photosynthetic organisms. This project is funded by an ARC Discovery Project 2026, where the research associate will focus on engineering encapsulin protein cages in cyanobacteria, with optimal carbon fixing designs to be implemented in plants through collaboration with Professor Spencer Whitney at the Australian National University. The ultimate goal of this research program is to generate crops that are more resilient and resource-efficient, leading to increased agricultural productivity.
