Cihan University – Erbil is a private English-medium institution founded in 2007 by the multisector Cihan Group.

Accredited by Kurdistan’s Ministry of Higher Education and Science it was fully accredited as a university by the Iraq ministry in 2017. It is considered once of the only multi campus universities in Iraq.

It offers degrees in law, business administration, accounting and information technology, commerce and engineering, computer science, international relations, architecture and engineering, biology, English and graphic design.

The university has 14 international partners, many of which are Middle Eastern, but also include institutions in Leipzig, Freiburg, Moscow and two in Warsaw.

The language centre founded in 2011 now offers instruction in Kurdish, Turkish, Arabic and Persian as well as intensive courses in English.

The School of Music at University College Dublin is pleased to invite applications from outstanding candidates for an Ad Astra PhD Scholarship in Digital (Ethno)musicology. The Ad Astra scheme involves students working under the supervision of an Ad Astra Fellow, a major recruitment initiative by University College Dublin. The Ad Astra Scholarships last for four years and includes an annual stipend of €25,000, a full fee-waiver, and an allowance of €4,000 per annum for research costs. Successful applicants must meet the University’s standard PhD admission requirements and be accepted into the School of Music’s PhD programme. Applications are invited in the following area: Digital (Ethno)musicology under the supervision of Dr. Abigail C. Lindo (abigail.lindo@ucd.ie). Start date: September 2026. We welcome applications from across a broad range of musicological and ethnomusicological topics beyond Western art music, especially with attention to 20th and/or 21st century Black Music and technology. Potential areas of focus include but are not limited to: Afrodiasporic sonic aesthetics and globalization Music production and sampling in the 21st century Hybrid and experimental music performances Social media soundscapes Alternative music and culture Songwriting and artificial intelligence Popular music industry, streaming, and commodification Sonic geographies of the Global South Intersectional approaches to music (including race, gender, ability, etc.) Musical genrefication and hierarchization Feminist, womanist, and/or queer music and worldmaking Blending creative practice and critical music research The primary criterion is that the applicant’s research should be innovative and of the highest quality. The successful applicant should have a background in ethnomusicology, digital musicology, sound studies, digital humanities, music pedagogy, and/or creative practice, and should have or be working towards a masters degree in ethnomusicology, musicology, or a related field. The project: Miscanthus Energy for a Resilient and Inclusive Transition (MERIT) aim is to increase Miscanthus biomass production in Ukraine. Ukraine has over 2 million hectares of arable land left unused due to war-related contamination. MERIT aims to use Miscanthus to: Produce renewable biomass for decentralised heating, biogas, and energy generation and restore damaged and abandoned land through phytoremediation. You will work on the Biofuel Crop Miscanthus, leading studies to emulate specific soil toxicity states and identifying variety specific resistance to toxins, and compartmentalisation of toxins in plant structures. Key tasks will include: (i); establishing and monitoring trials on campus and establishing field sites with local partners (ii); quantifying contents of soil and plant toxicity (iii); measuring plant morphological and physiological responses (iv); collating comprehensive data sets from project partners and undertaking appropriate Genotype x Environment x Treatment analysis (v); writing academic publications. A small part of the project will investigate cold tolerance in specific varieties. You may also be able to assist across the broader projects within the group.A proven ability to undertake and lead plant biology field research activities is essential, and to publish in international peer-reviewed journals is desirable. You will also have an enthusiastic and co-operative attitude, well-suited to working as part of a team, supervising and advising more junior members of the team on occasion, and contributing to essential field / laboratory / project management tasks. There is the opportunity for you to apply your own research interests within this project to broaden the scope of the study beyond the project deliverables. About us The postholder will be based in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London, joining Europe’s largest grouping of youth-focused mental health scientists, clinical academics and researchers at the newly established Pears Maudsley Centre for Children and Young People. About the role This role will provide clinical psychology expertise to support a programme of youth mental health research and service innovation under the direction of Dr Daniel Michelson (Clinical Reader in Youth Mental Health), working in partnership with South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, community youth organisations and schools. The postholder will contribute to the co-design, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of a portfolio of intervention-focused projects, with an emphasis on scalable formats that can be delivered by non-specialists. These include: A transdiagnostic single-session intervention for clinically referred young people with depression or anxiety on CAMHS waiting lists (supported by assistant psychologists). A suite of single-session early interventions designed to address emerging depression and anxiety among young people supported by youth organisations in Croydon and Lambeth (supported by community youth workers). A brief intervention targeting emotionally based school avoidance during the transition from primary to secondary school (supported by attendance mentors). For those seeking to pursue a future clinical academic career, an appropriate professional development plan will be provided (e.g., mentoring and other support for developing a competitive fellowship application). This is a part-time post (14 hours per week; 0.4FTE), available on a fixed-term contract until 31/08/28. About you To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria Doctoral qualification in clinical psychology with active HCPC registration as a Practitioner (Clinical) Psychologist. Experience in applied mental health research, gained as a salaried research assistant/associate/fellow and/or during doctoral training. Experience of lived experience involvement in mental health research and service development. Experience of delivering brief psychological interventions to young people aged 10-19 years.
