Chinese Culture University is located on Yang Min Shan mountain in the Taiwanese capital of Taipei. There are three other smaller campuses are located in Jianguo, Ximending, and Zhongxiao East Road in downtown Taipei.
The university was founded in 1962 as the Far East Research Unit. It became the College of Chinese Culture a year later and attained university status in 1980.
Students can study in 12 colleges covering many academic disciplines including agriculture, arts, business administration, education, engineering, environmental design, foreign languages, journalism and mass communications, law, liberal arts, science, and social sciences.
Around 10 per cent of faculty are from overseas. The large school of continuing education has close links with Taiwanese government agencies with numerous students going directly to employment there.
The university is affiliated with the Hwa Kang museum, with more than 50,000 artefacts and a university press whose output includes the The Chinese Encyclopedia and the Chinese Language Dictionary.
