Formerly known as Baptist College, Charleston Southern University is based in the town of North Charleston, South Carolina. The institution remains affiliated with the Southern Baptist denomination.
CSU offers over six educational programmes at graduate and undergraduate level. A notable alumni from the political science bachelor’s programme is Tim Scott, the first African American to be elected to both the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
Graduate programmes offered at CSU campus include the Master of Athletic Training, which concludes with an exam to be a certified trainer upon passing. The master of arts in Christian Studies is offered online, and comprises of 36 hours of teaching designed to imbue a student with an understanding and appreciation of scripture, theology and Church history.
CSU athletics teams are known as the Buccaneers, and compete in fifteen sports across men’s and women’s divisions. The men's American football team plays in the NCAA Division I Football Championship, and has an ongoing rivalry with the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.
The Whitfield Resource Centre is based within the CSU library, and is designed to galvanise Christian values of leadership for its dedicated students. The Careers Centre offers internship opportunities for students wishing to gain experience in a professional environment prior to graduation. Subject to GPA, students can take part in the 120 hours minimum APPLE Programme offered by the Centre.
For those wishing to join a Greek letter organisation, there are six sororities and four fraternities based at the university.

The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralised pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. They provide a critical industry perspective to student learning and applied research, complementing the academic expertise of faculty by translating industry practices and real-world applications into the curriculum. The Professional Officer (Industrial Biotechnology) will work closely with faculty, students, as well as internal and external stakeholders to strengthen operational and translational capabilities. The role supports: The Bioprocess Innovation Platform (BIP) and related research activities, including feedstock processing, fermentation, downstream processing, and prototype sample preparation at laboratory and pilot scales; Industry-facing project execution and translational delivery in industrial biotechnology; Applied learning and Continuing Education and Training (CET) activities. Key Responsibilities: Work closely with faculty and internal stakeholders to ensure the smooth planning and execution of BIP-related activities and projects. Manage and support operations of the pilot-scale microbial bioprocess facilities (Bioprocess Innovation Platform, BIP), including: Project- and operation-related procurement; Consumables planning and resource allocation; tilities management (scheduling, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair coordination); Analytical and process data capture, analysis and documentation; Project documentation, reporting and follow-up actions; Waste management and disposal coordination; Laboratory safety and compliance. Provide hands-on technical support across feedstock processing, fermentation (up to 500L), downstream processing, and prototype sample preparation. Visit our website for more information on benefits for you and your dependents Qualifications Required Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in Education, Learning Sciences, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience & Expertise: Minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education, teaching and learning centers, or related roles Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design, learning outcomes assessment, and evidence-based pedagogical practices Strong understanding of foundational skill development, including critical thinking, problem-solving, and disciplinary ways of knowing Experience applying the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) to inform practice and institutional initiatives Experience collaborating with faculty on course design, assessment, and instructional innovation Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching practices and supporting diverse student populations Interest in advancing teaching and learning in a global liberal arts context AI-related competencies: Understanding of how AI technologies, including generative AI, are shaping student learning behaviors, assessment, and skill development Ability to critically evaluate AI-facilitated applications and their implications for teaching, learning, and academic integrity Experience or demonstrated interest in integrating AI into teaching and learning in pedagogically meaningful ways Skills & Competencies: Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, students, and cross-functional teams Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate research and data into actionable strategies and resources Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing instructional materials and resources Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment Application Instructions To apply for this position, please submit the following documents: CV Cover Letter List three professional references, including their names and email addresses.
