Role & Responsibilities: You will play a central role in how the University identifies, manages and adapts to cyber risk—using data, intelligence and sector best practice to guide decision‑making. The post leads our shift from reactive to proactive security, driving behavioural and cultural change across the institution and embedding clear accountability for cyber risk. Beyond formal project delivery, you will oversee continuous improvement activity—translating operational insight from metrics, audits, incidents and risk assessments into practical, business‑as‑usual enhancements. This work ensures faster detection and response, greater organisational readiness, and more resilient incident management processes. Responsibilities include: Lead continuous improvement – develop and implement a structured, continuous improvement roadmap to enhance the University’s cybersecurity maturity over time. Drive risk reduction initiatives – oversee the identification, tracking and mitigation or cyber risks, ensuring continuous reduction of vulnerabilities across systems and processes enabling and influencing executive risk decision making. Lead on internal exercises and post incident reviews – Lead lessons learned activities, ensuring root causes are addressed and translated into practical, proportionate improvements. Accountability for ensuring organisational learning is embedded. Establish metrics and reporting – define and manage key performance indicators and key risk indicators to measure the effectiveness of controls and improvement efforts and which allow informed and timely decision making at senior levels of the organisation.  Support during cyber security incidents - Assisting the Director of Cyber Security and the Head of Cyber Security Operations by facilitating structured engagement between Cyber Operations, Cyber Risk & Compliance, IT Services, Communications, and other University senior stakeholders, ensuring clarity of roles, actions, and timelines. The University of Southampton in collaboration with Gham Power and Swanbarton have secured a short-term project to develop the Soluble Lead Flow Battery for installation at Gahme Power in Nepal. As a result we are seeking to appoint a fixed term 4-month research fellow to facilitate and deliver a programme of research testing aerogel thermal barrier materials within proxy and actual battery environments. You will be an mechanical engineer who holds a PhD degree or is submitting a PhD thesis before September 2026 with evidenced-supported experience of testing materials. Knowledge of electorchemcial process and physical materials properties is an advantage.  You will join a large and friendly Mechanical Engineering department and work within the Energy Technology Research Group. The project will benefit from close collaboration with other researchers and with colleagues in the collaborative project. The Future Ship and System Design (FSSD) programme aims to develop strategic and innovative design capabilities for the maritime industry in Singapore and globally. We are seeking a certified Power Electrical Engineer to design, analyse, and operate high-power and high-voltage electrical systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation across our facilities. The candicate will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, and research team members to manage and execute the project, ensuring that all deliverables are successfully achieved. Key Competencies Design and review high-power electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, generators, and protection schemes Perform power system studies such as load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination Operate and control high-power or high-voltage equipment Lead testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems Ensure compliance with electrical safety rules, standards, and regulatory requirements Support maintenance planning, reliability improvement, and asset management Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment The employee is to communicate with any relevant internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met.
