About Central University of Technology, Free State

Central University of Technology, Free State was founded in 1981.

Students are divided between faculties of engineering, built environment and information technology, health and environmental science, humanities, and management science.

Notable research centres include the Centre for Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing which produces 3-D printed prototypes in plastic, metal and sand, and the Research Group in Evaluable Manufacturing Systems (RGEMS).

International partnerships include a joint project with Aston and Loughborough universities to design better wheelchairs.
