About Central Methodist University

Central Methodist University is a liberal arts college with a main campus in Fayette, Missouri. Established in 1855 on a one acre campus, the institution expanded to a 55 acre site over the next century and was granted full university status in 2004.

At the Fayette campus is the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, which offers a wide variety of undergraduate degree programmes. The Education course offers four stages for students to choose from, ranging from Early Childhood to Secondary. Programmes are accredited through the Higher Learning Commission.

In the Science sector, the Thogmorton Centre for Allied Health is a modern facility opened in 2015 with simulation labs and an eight bed area with a central nurses station. CMU offers an Associate of Science in Allied Health qualification to students after a minimum of 62 hours of teaching and as part of a bachelor of science degree.

The College of Graduate and Extended Studies has locations across the state of Missouri, from St. Louis to the Ozark Mountains.

For those wishing to study abroad CMU is part of the Missouri London Programme, in which students can study for a semester at Imperial College in Kensington, west London. CMU is also affiliated with GlobaLinks, which offers study programmes in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

The most incredible moment of history at CMU occurred during the American civil war, when in 1864 fifty Union soldiers fought Confederate sympathisers on university grounds at the Battle of Fayette. In 2007, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources placed a maker at CMU in remembrance of the event.
