About Caucasus University

Basic information and contact details for Caucasus University

In 1998, as Georgia was transitioning from a planned to a free-market economy, it set up the Caucasus School of Business in the capital city of Tbilisi, in partnership with Georgia State University, in the US state of Atlanta.

In 2004, the School of Business became Caucasus University, with 11 schools, covering a range of disciplines: business; law; media; technology; architecture and design; governance; humanities and social sciences; tourism; medicine and healthcare management; economics; and education. It is now one of the largest higher-educational institutions in Georgia.

In 2017, Caucasus University moved to a new campus, built in 1909 and formerly the home of the Armenian Seminary. While the building retains its historical character, it has been extensively rebuilt. A second campus, in Georgia’s second city, Batumi, was later added, with space for two new schools: maritime studies and culinary arts.

A wide range of student-run clubs include board-game club, animé club, finance club, medicine club and model UN. University societies tend to be more arts-based, focusing on theatre, dance and folklore.

The university hosts a number of annual events, including a grand campus New Year’s celebration, with Christmas market and Secret Santa, a Halloween celebration and a welcome party for new students, with fireworks and ceremonial cake-cutting.
