Named after sixteenth century protestant reformer John Calvin, Calvin College is a Christian academic community located in the city of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Founded in 1876, the institution was originally a seminary for purpose of training church ministers. Gradually more study programs were added and in 1901 the first female students started at the college.
Today Calvin College is located on a 400-acre campus, noted for its scenic atmosphere.
Among the notable campus buildings are the Hekman Library, which houses more than 2.1 million volumes, as well as the 5000-seat Van Noord Arena and the Hiemenga Hall, home a significant proportion of the Calvin College academic departments.
There are seven residence halls on campus, and the annual Chaos Day is an opportunity for the residents of each of the halls to dress up and compete against each other in a range of events. Almost all first and second year students live on campus, and there are over 70 clubs and organisations on offer for the students to join.
There are more than 100 majors, minors and programs on offer, with popular choices including business, nursing, education, kinesiology, engineering and psychology. Calvin College has also established 11 study abroad programs, allowing students to study in a different culture for a proportion of their degree course.
Famous Calvin College graduates include film art director Jeannie Oppewall, philosopher Alvin Plantinga, businessman and entrepreneur Wayne Huizenga and Amway Corporation cofounder Jay Van Andel.

Social and Cultural Anthropology at UH has a strong research environment for political economy, ethics and morality, cognitive anthropology, environment and sustainability, location and borders, and linguistic anthropology. Thematic specialisation for this position is open, but we are particularly interested in candidates specialising in political and environmental questions. Anthropology at UH is known for its diverse regional expertise and emphasis on ethnographic research. We are looking for candidates with strong regional expertise grounded in extensive ethnographic research. All regional specializations are welcome, consideration will be given to how a candidate’s expertise complements and enriches the regional profile of the current faculty, which can be found here. An appointee to the position of assistant/associate professor in the tenure track system shall hold a doctoral degree and have the ability to conduct independent scholarly work as well as the teaching skills required for the position. In addition, the appointee shall have the capacity and potential to pursue an academic career at a high level, as demonstrated by publications and other means. In assessing the applicants’ qualifications, attention shall be paid to scientific publications and research, teaching experience and qualifications, international experience and collaborations, and success in the acquisition of external research funding. An appointee to the position of professor shall hold a doctoral degree and have high-level academic qualifications; experience in leading scientific research; the ability to provide research-based teaching and supervise dissertations and theses; as well as evidence of international cooperation in the research field they represent. Position Summary We are seeking an inspiring and forward-thinking Academic Dean to lead the academic delivery and strategic development of our transnational education programmes in Rehabilitation&Exercise Therapy and Public Health Management. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the exceptional quality, integrity, and successful delivery of the UK curriculum at CDUTCM-Keele campus, Chengdu, China. The ideal candidate will be an academic leader with deep knowledge of the UK higher education system, a strong background in the health sciences industry, and a proven experience to bridge British academic standards with the needs of a dynamic international setting. Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership & Quality Enhancement Serve as the academic authority on the UK curriculum, ensuring all programmes adhere to the standards of the UK partner university and the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) framework. Maintain and manage a comprehensive quality assurance system for the full teaching process, including curriculum design review, instructional supervision, and assessment/evaluation standardisation. Proactively identify and address teaching quality issues by implementing advanced UK pedagogical methods and assessment tools. Faculty Development & Operational Oversight Mentor and manage a diverse team of UK and local faculty, fostering collaboration and professional growth. Oversee teaching operations including timetabling, performance review, and faculty development. Coordinate effectively with Chinese faculty leadership to ensure seamless integration and optimisation of the Sino-UK curriculum systems. Curriculum Innovation & Industry Alignment Ensure programmes remain relevant, future-focused, aligning with UK academic standards and evolving industry needs in rehabilitation therapy and health management. Integrate real-world healthcare experience into academic content to enhance graduate employability. Lead periodic curriculum reviews and enhancement initiatives. Strategic Engagement & Partnership Building Serve as the primary academic liaison between CDUTCM and Keele University, ensuring the local institute's alignment with and adherence to rigorous UK academic standards. Build strong relationships with UK partner faculty, local Chinese staff, and students. Champion international collaboration and contribute to the Institute's strategic growth. Selection Criteria - Who We’re Looking For Essential Qualifications & Experience A doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Rehabilitation, Public Health, Allied Health, Health Services Management, or a closely related field from a recognised university outside China A minimum of 5 years of International HE teaching and/or administrative experience, including a mid-senior leadership role. Demonstrated expertise in clinical practice, healthcare management, or applied health sciences. Proven track record in academic quality assurance, curriculum design, assessment moderation, and governance. Experience implementing innovative pedagogies and driving continuous improvement in teaching and learning. Strong operational insight into academic delivery, including scheduling, resource planning, and performance management. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor faculty teams, fostering professional development and collaboration. Experience aligning academic programmes with industry trends to enhance graduate employability. Success in leading programme reviews and curriculum enhancement initiatives. Effective cross-cultural communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in diverse, international teams. Willingness to reside in Chengdu for a minimum of 9 months per year Preferred Attributes Experience in transnational education, international programme delivery, or cross-border academic partnerships.
