This position involves the design, synthesis, and characterization of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and their composites using sustainable alternatives, such as waste and industrial by-products. The synthesized materials will subsequently be applied in catalysis and adsorption in large scale. The candidate will primarily focus on extracting and purifying metals from an inorganic matrix by-product, which will then be utilized in MOF synthesis. The material synthesis will involve wet chemistry and other well-established solid-state methods. Required qualifications: The candidate must hold a PhD degree in Materials Science, Materials Chemistry, Inorganic chemistry, or related disciplines with strong experience in MOFs and materials synthesis. Experience in catalysis and adsorption is also required. The candidate should have demonstrated experience in undertaking independent research, managing research activities of Master and supervising PhD students. Fluency in English as well as a proven ability to write scientific articles are also mandatory. The post-doctoral fellow should be an effective team player to interact constructively with the interdisciplinary team of CBS department. Able to perform catalytic and/or adsorption tests at large scale Able to examine the textural and structural properties of porous materials using a panoply of characterization techniques such as XRD, N2 adsorption, SEM, TEM, XAS, XPS, dissolution-NMR, IR spectroscopy and TGA and other related spectroscopy techniques. Job description: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our dynamic team in the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SusMat-RC) at UM6P. The successful candidate will work on an exciting project focused on extracting and analyzing experimental and computational data to develop predictive models for polymer-based materials. This project aims to leverage computational chemistry techniques and data-driven approaches to optimize the properties of novel polymer-based materials. Key duties The successful candidate is expected to: Build and evaluate chemical databases based on experimental and computational data. Establish predictive models based on artificial intelligence methods. Utilize the developed models to design and optimize the properties of materials. Conduct thorough experimental testing of developed materials. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including organic and inorganic chemists, and data scientists. Maintain detailed records of experimental and computational procedures, results, and observations. Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations for conferences and scientific publications. Contribute to the generation of new research ideas, participate in grant writing activities, and seek external funding opportunities to support ongoing research projects. Contribute on the group’s activities in processing of sustainable materials, (bio)polymer composites and their applications. Participate in the supervision of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students. The position involves the design, synthesis, and characterization of porous materials to control the release of fertilizers into the soil. The project aims to develop and optimize innovative porous carriers to enhance fertilizer efficiency, controlled release, and sustainability in agricultural applications. This research will improve nutrient retention, reduce environmental impact, and increase crop yields. Job Description As part of our laboratory's research initiatives, we are conducting advanced research on the computational modeling and optimization of heterogeneous catalysts for various catalytic processes. This project focuses on utilizing computational techniques to understand and enhance the performance of catalysts in reactions such as hydrogenation, oxidation, and biomass conversion. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to contribute to the development of new catalytic systems through computational simulations and theoretical studies. Main Responsibilities: Perform computational calculations to model and optimize heterogeneous catalysts. Conduct simulations to evaluate catalytic performance and reaction mechanisms. Analyze and interpret computational data to understand the interactions between catalysts and reactants. Write scientific reports and research articles and participate in conferences. Candidate Profile PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Strong knowledge of heterogeneous catalysis and computational chemistry. Experience with computational modeling  (i,e, DFT, and/or molecular dynamics). Familiarity with software such as Material Studio, VASP, Quantum Espresso… Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English. Good publication track record in peer-reviewed journals.
