The role ensures that students who do not meet direct entry requirements, either English Language or academic are provided with high-quality, student centred engaging learning experience with clear progression into their chosen degree studies. The role also requires that students are integrated into the campus community and develop a strong sense of belonging to the university. The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is seeking a highly qualified full-time lecturer in Physics and Mechanics in Mechatronics. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in this field or a closely related field and have a strong background in research. Relevant international experience is of advantage. The successful candidate will become part of an international network of universities and research institutes. Teaching Responsibilities In the role of a lecturer, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Mechatronics (MEC) program. The expected workload for the in-class lecture conduction is 08 academic hours per week, totaling 240 academic hours per year (1 academic hour equals to 45 minutes). The holder of this job is also responsible for supervising bachelor's and master's theses and mentoring PhD students. Research Responsibilities As a faculty member of a research-oriented university, the successful candidate is expected to significantly contribute to the scientific profile of VGU through innovation. This includes and is not limited to comprehensive activities in basic research as well as applied research in the fields of Physics Engineering, Mechanics Engineering. The ability to apply and generate externally funded research projects is highly desirable. Administrative responsibilities The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of the MEC program by participating in administrative, marketing and other public activities of the program in consultation with the Academic Coordinator of the study program and the German partner university, namely Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg). She or he is also expected to contribute actively to the academic self-administration of the Faculty of Engineering and university by being willing to stand for election to the Faculty Council, Academic Senate and/or other bodies. Qualification Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Physics Engineering or Mechanics Engineering, or a closely related field, preferably from a well-known international university. A current title of Professor will be a plus, as experience and understanding of the German higher education system and methodology. Other requirements include: An outstanding academic record with a focus on Mechanic applications, especially in design of intensive mechanisms or other areas closely related to it; Knowledge in static and dynamic systems; Knowledge in electric and theromodynamic systems; Knowledge in fluid dynamic systems; Knowledge in mechanical design (2D, 3D), mechatronic development projects; Knowledge in robotics, automobile and aeronautical systems; Knowledge in using artificial intelligence in development of intensive physic systems; Strong track record of successful research activities and publications in international and peer-reviewed journals in the related area; Proven teaching experience with strong self-motivation combined with a passion for teaching and research; Experience in industry is of advantage; Proven excellent English proficiency: Candidates who are from non-native English-speaking countries should include one of the following valid English proficiency certificates; IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 548(PBT), TOEFL 84 (iBT), TOEFL 212 (CBT), CEFR level B2 or Aptis level C1 at the time of application submission. About us ​​Working as part of a world-class academic team based in the Department of Forensic and Neurodevelopmental Sciences at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), the successful candidate will play a central role in the delivery of a high-profile collaborative research project funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).​ About the role Applications are invited from highly motivated and talented candidates for a position of Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work on an NIHR-funded project evaluating Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews (C(E)TRs) for people with a learning disability and autistic people (the OptiCaT project). C(E)TRs were introduced in 2015 as a key intervention in ensuring that people with a learning disability or who are autistic receive the right support in the community and do not spend too long in hospital, if they are admitted. The impact of C(E)TRs on clinical and other outcomes has not been extensively studied. The OptiCaT research programme takes a mixed methods approach. The successful applicant will have a key role in the qualitative work package which aims to understand multi-stakeholder perspectives of the C(E)TR process and how this may be improved. This will include participant recruitment through various means, data acquisition (primarily through individual semi-structured interviews), data analysis, and working with the research team and PPI co-researchers to interpret the data and disseminate findings. In addition, the successful applicant will work with the team to deliver a prospective study within NHS services that investigates the current use and impact of C(E)TRs amongst children and adults with a learning disability or who are autistic. This will include recruitment activities, liaison with study sites, and conducting baseline and follow-up participant assessments. The post-holder will be supported in these tasks by the wider research team and Clinical Studies Officers. This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered ​a fixed term​ contract until February 2028. The role will be based at the main IoPPN building at the Denmark Hill campus of KCL. Substantial experience of using qualitive methods and undertaking qualitative analysis.
