Beijing Institute of Technology’s international focus drives innovation and impact in research and education

Academician Sun Fengchun and professor He Hongwen's team from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Vehicle Engineering at the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) published a research paper in the top international journal Nature Communications on March 22.

The Flexible Electronics Devices and Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute of the School of Integrated Circuits and Electronics at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) has recently published an academic paper titled Crack-enhanced MXene-carbon nanotube soft contact lens for body-induced intracranial pressure application in ACS Nano.

Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) professors Tao Ran and Cui Pingyuan received the Qian Xuesen Outstanding Contribution Award at the China Aerospace Conference in Shanghai on April 24.

Zhao Fenggui, a doctoral student from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of BIT (Beijing Institute of Technology), recently published a research paper entitled Precise Preparation of Triarylboron-Based Graphdiyne Analogues for Gas Separation as the first author in the top international journal Angewandte Chemie International Edition (DOI: 10.1002/anie.202317294). BIT is the first author affiliation for this paper, and Yin Xiaodong, a special researcher at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at BIT, is the corresponding author.

Professor Jin Haibo's research group at the School of Materials Science and Engineering of the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) has designed a negative electrode/solid electrolyte interface layer based on the piezoelectric effect. By balancing the internal electric field of the battery, they have effectively improved the performance and cycle stability of solid-state sodium batteries. A paper on the research results has recently been published in the internationally renowned journal Advanced Materials, under the title of "Piezoelectric Interlayer Enabling a Rechargeable Quasi-Solid-State Sodium Battery at 0 ℃" (DOI: 10.1002/adma.202309298). Ni Qing, a doctoral student of the class of 2020 at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, is the first author, and Pre-appointed Assistant Professor Wang Chengzhi, Associate Professor Zhao Yongjie, and Professor Jin Haibo are the co-corresponding authors of the paper.

Li Xiangyang, a doctoral student at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), has recently published a research paper titled "All-Direct Laser Patterning Zinc-Based Microbatteries" in the top international journal Advanced Functional Materials as the first author (DOI: 10.1002/adfm.202314060). BIT is the first author affiliation for the paper, and Zhao Yang, a special researcher at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at BIT, is the corresponding author.

Recently, a paper titled "Dealuminated Beta zeolite reverses Ostwald ripening for durable copper nanoparticle catalysts," led by Professor Xiao Fengshou and Researcher Liang Wang from the School of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Zhejiang University, and in collaboration with Professor Jiabi Ma of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), and researchers of other institutes, was published in the journal Science.

The research findings of Associate Professor Xiao Zhenyu from the School of Life Science at the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), in collaboration with Researcher Wang Hongmei from the Institute of Zoology (IOZ) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Researcher Lu Falong from the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology (IGDB), CAS, and Professor Li Rong from Peking University Third Hospital, have recently been published in the journal Nature Genetics. The paper is titled "Single-nucleus multi-omic profiling of human placental syncytiotrophoblasts identifies cellular trajectories during pregnancy."

Recently, Professor Xie Jing's team from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), in collaboration with Professor Zare's team from Stanford University, has made significant progress in the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) using microdroplets. The research results, titled "Molecular Mechanism for Converting Carbon Dioxide Surrounding Water Microdroplets Containing 1,2,3-Triazole to Formic Acid," have been published in the prestigious international publication Journal of the American Chemical Society. Professor Xie Jing and Professor Zare are the authors of the paper, with BIT being the first institution. This research project received funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the BIT Teli Young Fellow Program, among other institutions.

Significant progress has been made in the theoretical design of near-infrared II (NIR-II) fluorescent dyes by a team jointly led by Associate Professor Zheng Xiaoyan from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and Associate Professor Shi Jianbing from the School of Materials Science & Engineering, the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), in collaboration with Professor Francisco of the University of Pennsylvania. The related findings were published in the top international publication Journal of the American Chemical Society under the title "Two key descriptors for designing second near-infrared dyes and experimental validation." BIT is the primary affiliation, with doctoral students Zeng Yi and Qu Jiamin as co-first authors, and Associate Professors Zheng Xiaoyan, Shi Jianbing, and Professor Francisco as co-corresponding authors. Professors Li Zesheng and Dong Yuping provided critical guidance for this work.

On April 23, Associate Professor Xiao Zhenyu, of the School of Life Science at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), alongside researchers Wang Hongmei, Yu Leqian, and Guo Jingtao from the Institute of Zoology (IOZ) at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Professor Wei Yulei from China Agricultural University, and Assistant Researcher He Nannan from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, published an article in the renowned international academic journal Cell, titled "3D Reconstruction of a Gastrulating Human Embryo." Using chip technology and 3D animation reconstruction, they reconstructed a high-resolution 3D digital human gastrula for the first time, filling in the knowledge gap regarding human embryonic development during the gastrula stage. This research provides important information for understanding human early embryonic development and related diseases, laying a scientific foundation for improving adverse pregnancy outcomes.

The team led by professors Yao Liaoyuan and Yang Guoyu from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) has recently made significant progress in the synthesis of gold clusters protected by dithiocarbonate (DTX) ligands. They have successfully synthesized chiral D5-configured and NIR-II phosphorescent staggered Au25 nanorods. The findings were published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society under the title "Dithiocarbonate-Protected Au25 Nanorods of Chiral D5 Configuration and NIR-II Phosphorescence." BIT is the primary author affiliation, with professors Yao Liaoyuan and Yang Guoyu as the corresponding authors and master's student Bai Mengge as the first author. The research was supported by the Beijing Natural Science Foundation, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the BIT startup fund, and the BIT Analytical Testing Center. Special thanks were also extended to the staff of the BL17B1 beamline at the National Protein Science Research Center (SSRF) in Shanghai for their assistance in data collection.

Recently, Professor Pang Siping, Professor Li Shenghua, Associate Professor Chen Wenxing from the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) and Associate Professor Zhang Liang from Tsinghua University collaborated to make important advancements in the preparation of asymmetrically coordinated dual-atom iron catalysts and their efficient electrocatalytic application for Oxygen Reduction Reaction.
