The Class of 2021 is made up of 179 students, from 50 countries, with an average age of 25 years. The most common academic backgrounds for Barcelona School of Economics  Master’s students are Economics and Finance, Business Administration, Mathematics, Engineering, or Social Sciences. 

Students with undergraduate studies in any area who can demonstrate strong quantitative skills are encouraged to apply.

The Barcelona School of Economics was founded on the idea that individual potential is realized through collaboration with talented peers. We select candidates from a wide range of perspectives, experiences and voices. In the Class of 2021, 83% of students are from outside of Spain, and 39% of students came from outside Europe. 

Work experience before the master program

An education at the Barcelona School of Economics is a wise choice for both freshly-graduated undergrads and those who have experience in the workforce who are looking to improve and enhance their skill set.

Around 80% of students enter the Master’s directly after their undergraduate studies. Others have professional experience at consulting firms, international organizations, and banks as well as research institutions and government agencies.

About us

Barcelona School of Economics is an institution dedicated to academic rigor, open-minded thinking, and scientific impact. We do this by bringing together four of Europe’s top Economics research groups, all located in the city we call home:

  • Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) Unit of Economic Analysis 
  • Institute for Economic Analysis (IAE-CSIC) 
  • Center for Research in International Economics (CREI)

Our rigorous Master’s programs are designed and taught by researchers from these four academic units. They are our Barcelona School of Economics Affiliated Professors, our core teaching faculty of more than 150 accomplished researchers and instructors who exemplify the pursuit of excellence that we aim to instill in every student.
