Applications are now invited for the following posts: Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer (Two posts) Department of Economics (Post Ref.: 26/38) The Department of Economics (http://www.ln.edu.hk/econ/) is a multi-cultural community of academics dedicated to excellence in teaching and research. Both of the two recent Research Assessment Exercises have rated Lingnan University’s Department of Economics among the top performers in research output in Hong Kong. Its undergraduate teaching is in the context of an inter-disciplinary social sciences programme, where students can opt for different discipline majors or interdisciplinary areas of interest. The Department also offers MPhil and PhD degrees in economics, as well as a taught programme of MSc in International Banking and Finance (MIBF) and Msc in International Development Economics (MIDE). The Department invites applications for Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer specializing in any fields of economics and preference will be given to candidates who have taught the following course(s) before: The Making of Hong Kong Social and Economic Indicators Introduction to Banks and Financial Institutions Financial Information and Management Hong Kong Economy Introduction to Microeconomics Introduction to Statistics and Econometrics Urban Economics International Trade and Trade Policy General Requirements Applicants should (i) possess a Master / PhD degree in economics from a reputable university; (ii) be able to teach courses at undergraduate levels in economics fields effectively; and (iii) have at least 5-year experience in teaching undergraduate courses. About the job: The candidate will be an active member of a research team focussed on the development of novel formulations based on solid drug nanoparticles and electrospun patches for the management of diseases with therapeutic gaps. He/She will assist in the planning and delivery of research activities related to his/her research and ensure that the overall research objectives of the project are met. Full time, fixed term for two years, located on the Camperdown Campus Opportunity to drive impactful research with real-world applications Base Salary $109,263 - $121,054 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Mathematics and Statistics to work on a project entitled "Data-driven modelling of dynamical systems: A measure transport framework". The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor Tiangang Cui and Professor Georg Gottwald as well as Professor Sebastian Reich on a project at the interface of dynamical systems, measure transport and machine learning on developing a novel mathematical framework for identifying reduced dynamical models of high-dimensional complex multi-scale systems. The project will develop fast, scalable numerical algorithms for extracting the evolution model of the relevant dynamical skeleton, quantifying associated uncertainties. We will develop mathematical theory underpinning the novel methodology, as well as applying it to the development of a data-driven model for climate prediction of the El-Ni o-Southern Oscillation.
