We are driving excellence across five research themes: Transplantation, Advanced Therapies & Regenerative Medicine Steatotic Liver Diseases Cirrhosis & Gut-Liver Axis Hepatobiliary Cancer Paediatric Hepatology & Rare Diseases About the role The Senior Lecturer/Reader/Professor in Hepatology will play a pivotal role in advancing the Faculty’s academic strategy by leading high-impact research into liver disease and contributing to the education of the next generation of scientists and healthcare professionals. This position will drive innovation through academic expertise in liver studies and translational research. The appointee will foster interdisciplinary collaborations, deliver research-led education, and mentor early-career researchers, ensuring King’s College London remains at the forefront of addressing contemporary healthcare challenges. The role will involve conducting and leading high-impact research aligned to the research themes of the Roger Williams Institute of Liver Studies (RW-ILS), while developing and maintaining an externally funded research programme. Core outputs will include: publishing high-quality research outputs in peer-reviewed journals, enhancing the Faculty’s research profile and supporting its Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission; fostering interdisciplinary collaborations within the Faculty and with external research groups, including national and international partners; providing research-led teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including the MBBS, MSc, and PGCert courses, ensuring alignment with the Faculty’s education strategy; supervising and mentoring PhD students and early-career researchers, promoting a culture of innovation, excellence, and academic development; contributing to the design and delivery of teaching modules; actively engaging in academic administration and committee work as required, contributing to the Faculty’s strategic and operational goals. This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. About You To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Senior Lecturer Essential criteria PhD (or equivalent) qualified in relevant subject area Demonstrable expertise in hepatology or a related field, with a history of high-quality, peer-reviewed publications Strong record of obtaining prestigious, substantial research funding/grants Evidence of teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs Job Requirements A good degree in Occupational Therapy or related fields. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience in relevant setting such as hospitals, occupational therapy clinics, community-based setting, long-term care or skilled nursing facilities. Have deep, hands-on competence in the areas of psychosocial domain of health involving in occupational therapy or psychology Knowledge and experience in working with people with a range of conditions, including those who have physical disabilities, mental or social problems. Possess practice knowledge on administration and application of various occupational therapy assessment tools. Extensive experience and knowledge of industry practices to bring industry perspective to SIT.  Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems. Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment. Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.
