Classification: Academic Level A Salary package: $89,313 - $112,103 per annum plus 17% superannuation Term: Full time, Fixed term (up to 24 months) Position Description and Selection Criteria: PD & PEWER Level A Postdoctoral Fellow.pdf The Position The Postdoctoral Fellow will work with Dr Charlie Crimston within the School of Medicine and Psychology on the ARC Discovery Project “The moral circle: Identifying the competing social and psychological forces that shape moral inclusion.” The project investigates the social and psychological processes that shape moral inclusion and exclusion, including how individuals extend or restrict moral concern across social and non-human entities. The successful candidate will undertake independent research aligned with the aims of the Discovery Project, including designing and conducting studies, applying advanced statistical methods, publishing in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, and presenting findings at national and international conferences. The role will involve collaboration with Professor Jolanda Jetten (University of Queensland) and other national and international researchers. The Postdoctoral Fellow will also contribute to competitive grant development, assist with student supervision, and engage in teaching and service activities as appropriate. The Person We are seeking an outstanding early career researcher with a PhD in social psychology (or a closely related discipline) and a strong research track record. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals and experience using advanced quantitative research methods. The ideal candidate will have expertise in experimental and survey research design, advanced statistical analysis (e.g., multi-level modelling, mediation/moderation analysis, longitudinal or large-scale quantitative approaches), and the capacity to articulate and pursue innovative research questions. A demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, contribute to grant development, supervise students, and meet project deadlines is essential. Strong written and oral communication skills and a commitment to collegial, inclusive academic practice are required. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi - About the role A relevant PhD and demonstrated teaching and research practice are required for this role. The purpose of this role is to provide teaching and research input into the Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Information Technology (CSIT) disciplines, particularly undergraduate and postgraduate teaching for an ongoing collaborative programme between the School of Mathematics and Computational Sciences at Massey University and the School of International Education at Hebei University of Technology (HEBUT), China. The role will be based primarily at one of the HEBUT campuses in China. You will be expected to be present at the HEBUT campus during teaching semesters. Up to four months of the year may be spent at Massey's Manawatū campus in Palmerston North, New Zealand (July - August and mid-December - February). The language of instruction will be English. In this role, you will: Prepare and present lectures, tutorials, and other classes for undergraduate and postgraduate students in programmes offered or contributed to by the School of Mathematics and Computational Sciences. Develop curricula for courses in CSIT as required and directed by the Group Leader, including for distance education and online learning if required. Utilise, introduce, and develop modern teaching methods, including digital tools, to enhance students' learning experiences and outcomes. Assist in supervising professional projects or research activities of postgraduate students. Collaborate with staff in other academic units to ensure CSIT service courses remain relevant and of high quality. Undertake an active and viable personal research programme or participate in team-based research. Collaborate with Massey researchers working in other subject areas. Publish scholarly work in academic journals, books, and other appropriate outlets. Present research at national and international conferences. Seek both internal and external funding for research. Mōu - About you You will have a PhD relevant to computer science or a related field, along with proven ability to teach international students at university level. You will also have previous experience delivering courses at university level. You will ideally have experience in research and publication of scholarly articles and experience teaching at postgraduate level. You will be required to enter into a supplementary contract relating to provisions made by the University to enable you to carry out your duties in China. To be appointable to this role you must be eligible (or currently have the legal right) to work without restriction in both New Zealand and China. The project will focus to transform industry understanding of fungal contamination caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cepae. About the Role Your role will be to lead on a project whose objective is to reduce waste in the supply chain. This will be done by working with and implementing data collection, data-driven trials and analysis strategies. You will embed new knowledge and expertise that will transform industry understanding of fungal contamination caused by Fusarium, reducing onion losses from field to market. About You This role requires skills of data acquisition, management and statistical analysis within the food supply chain. Knowledge of food microbiology and postharvest would also be desirable in this role. This role would suit an individual with an excellent ability to implement new solutions in a dynamic evolving food system environment. Previous experience of analysing complex datasets for the food supply chain industry would be ideal for this role.
